Grey's Anatomy Spoilers: It's McBaby Time!

at . Comments

Is Shonda Rhimes about to answer the prayers of MerDer Nation?

In our Grey's Anatomy report card yesterday, we reflected on the state of Mr. & Mrs. Shepherd in Season 7. While it's nice to see the show's core couple exist without forced drama, they've also been pushed to the back burner in terms of screen time.

Come January 13, new intel suggests that's about to change.

Will one of TV's most beloved couples start a McFamily?

The prospect of a McBaby is a major topic of conversation in the January 13 episode, "Start Me Up," according to TV Line's Michael Ausiello, who adds the following hint:

"They want one. They really, really want one."

Whether you absolutely worship Meredith and Derek or just view them as a part of a terrific ensemble, it's hard to imagine Grey's Anatomy fans aren't thrilled at that prospect.

Are we right? Leave a comment and tell us!

Are Mer/Der really leaving the show or is this just a hype? For me if they leave I'll stop watching. They are the glue that holds everything together. Is Shonda making Callie the new Izzie.I find Callie tedious, a real attention seeker. Please spare the viewers and stop the sensationalism. Give us more Mer/Der and Mark/Lexie air time. Is this the treatment meted out to TR being repeated?

i want them to have a baby!!!!

I've been waiting for this since they got together in season 1, and now it might finally happen!!! :D
I really want them to have a baby,(really) but is there enough time for Mer to get pregnant, be pregnant for nine months, AND deliver the baby before this season ends? Especially if Mer and Der are both leaving now(after season 7)that their seven season contract ends.
I'm also not sure if I trust Shonda... much because of her not being able to keep T.R. in Grey's. It seemed as if she forgot about him seeing that he got less and less screentime. Sorry, I just had to share this. There's not alot of big Grey's fans here in Norway whom i can discuss this with.

Trust me they need a baby. Think about it and Christina being thr god mother, I wonder what she would teach this baby? would love to see that.

Wow people, cool down! I think it would be cool for them to have a mcbaby, and when Ellen and Patrick leave, it skips about 25 years, and their mcbaby becomes a surgeon! Man, this show is so addicting!

@KristenR1983: Haha, thank you. :)

OMG please please make this happen soon i really cant wait especially after tonight's episode!!!!!

OMG! i just saw the promo 4 "Start me up" PLEASE GIVE US A MCBABY!!!!!

When I First Read This On Here..I Screamed And Started Crying...I Have Been Waiting For This Episode Since Day One!! Does Anyone Agree???

@ Jayla, I couldnt of said it better myself....the show started out as being centered around Mer/Der, yes. But it has become clear, that Shonda is wanting it to go in a different direction, both she, Ellen, and Patrick have all said that themselves. I agree with jayla, I love the show for THE SHOW, not just one couple...I am the BIGGEST Slexie fan, but I would NEVER stop watching if they left, I love the show far too much...and i know there are a lot of people like me, so i am not worried about the shows future, if mer or der leave.

Grey's Anatomy Quotes

Amelia: I think I'm falling in love with Owen Hunt, and I'm really afraid that it's gonna destroy me.
Derek: It wouldn't be love if it didn't.

When we say things like "people don't change" it drives scientist crazy because change is literally the only constant in all of science. Energy. Matter. It's always changing, morphing, merging, growing, dying. It's the way people try not to change that's unnatural. The way we cling to what things were instead of letting things be what they are. The way we cling to old memories instead of forming new ones. The way we insist on believing despite every scientific indication that anything in this lifetime is permanent. Change is constant. How we experience change that's up to us. It can feel like death or it can feel like a second chance at life. If we open our fingers, loosen our grips, go with it, it can feel like pure adrenaline. Like at any moment we can have another chance at life. Like at any moment, we can be born all over again.
