Penn Badgley on Dair Connection: Fun Stuff!

by at . Comments

Many fans resisted the notion of a Dan-Blair romance on Gossip Girl. Others were all for it long before the show even began setting it up in the mid-season finale.

You can count Penn Badgley among those in the latter category.

At Cosmopolitan magazine’s 2011 Fun Fearless Males party, Penn was all about his character’s flight of fancy, the actor who plays Lonely Boy told MTV this ...

Dearest Daniel

Penn Badgley is all for the Dair story line.

“It was something new for my character, and I was having fun with the rapport, and I think my dialogue benefited from it. It was actually a lot of fun to work with Leighton."

"I hadn’t much. We were like the only two who had never really interacted.”

For more of what Badgely had to say, including how certain women in his life (cough, Vanessa, cough, Serena) will react to the new lovebirds, check out the video here.

Then tell us how you feel about Dair, romance-wise ...

Oy, it is tedious to hear the same arguments from the same people about ratings, just because a few people are so opposed to Dair that they'd grasp at any straw to show that the pairing is a bad idea. I'm guessing that the people responsible for this product have a much more realistic idea about what counts as "good" ratings and what influences them, and would not be influenced by the crazy talk. What on earth is the motive for being so dedicated to Blair's destructive relationship with Chuck? The show creates enjoyable fantasies for us, yes, but sometimes one has to depart from fantasy land, if possible. Yes? It might be shocking to consider that GG is one of the most popular shows downloaded on itunes (and viewed through other internet venues), which fits the technology use habits of the younger target demographic. Indeed, Empire of the Son is STILL on the top download charts at 32, and this episode where Dan and Blair first kiss was the most popular download compared to other episodes. In this case, the content actually influences that, because people knew after the fact that we got to the Kiss! They want to see it, turns out.

Anyone else notice that Blair is wearing the engagement ring at the 'party'. Maybe it IS an engagement party- but her and the Prince. And the season end will be her realizing the heart wants what it wants, and picking either Dan or Chuck. Penn said it would surprising so not sure which option that would mean!

By the way, killing someone off is still nothing but a prop to boost ratings by changing 'direction', but as evidenced from other shows, it's the prop that would bury the entire show. Good luck with idiot ideas.

From the interview like it's clear that 1) Leighon is towing the company line, doing the safe thing by staying neutral in her interview, giving the impression that she is up for anything, and 2) Ed's frustration with the writing cannot be denied, and is in line with what he has said before. He obviously doesn't like what's been done to his character and the show as a whole, and his "...kill one of them... I wouldn't put it past them" line is a direct jab at the writers, to say that they've been pulling crap for too long. I figure that of the two he hopes they kill HIM off. As in, "Enough already. Put me out of my misery. I'm tired of this crap." I don't blame him.

@Ally Yeah I saw the interview. He seemed sarcastic to me but Im sure he is tired of playing Chuck. All the actors seem ready to move on from GG and I cant blame them.

Wow some of you guys are taking this whole ratings thing a little serious. Well even with the horrible ratings this show is getting GG will probaly get picked up for a final season with a 13 episode arc. GG is lucky that Smallville, LUX, and possibly OTH are done, or else it would've gotten cancelled.

Has anyone read what Ed Westwick said about Chuck and Blair yet? He said "Maybe one of them should die." Think Ed's tired of playing Chuck?

And who am I? That's one secret I'll never tell ... You know you love me. XOXO, Gossip Girl

Gossip Girl

[to Jenny] That's the thing. You need to be cool to be queen. Anne Boleyn thought only with her heart and she got her head chopped off. So her daughter Elizabeth made a vow never to marry a man. She married a country. Forget boys. Keep your eye on the prize, Jenny Humphrey. You can't make people love you, but you can make them fear you. For what it's worth, you're my Queen. I choose you.
