This is devastating. Like so many people I have have been watching AMC for as long as I can remember and started watching OLTL in the last 5 years or so. I have been back in school for the last 3 years as well as working a full time job, it has been overwhelming and stressful, but no matter how much I have to get done watching these shows is "my time" that I allow myself to take each day. I can't believe this is happening. I will not be watching the new shows.

I will no longer be watching ABC period - i will watch GH on soapnet but I will never support another show on ABC - I agree with a former writer - boy cott "the view" (and honestly, with the crap they plan on bringing on as a replacement, I hardly think thet can compare it with "the view") -- I would like someone to do a survey on just how many people tune in to each of 25 + cooking and talk shows on air and see if they rank higher than All My Children and One Life to Live - they claimed All my Children ranked 5 and OLTL ranked 4 -- something wrong with that people?? my teenage daughter does not want to watch a cooking show or a talk show when she gets home..........I guess I will waiting for dvds to come out, taping all I can from the internet, and praying for the smart cookie that she is , for Oprah to pick them up ..........she would gain a whole new audience and zillions of kudos from existing ones...........please oprah...........

These shows have been part of life for nearly forty years. I can't believe ABC is shutting down
Two of the best daytime shows. More talk shows we don't need, by the time these shows come on I'm ready. I record everyday in case I'm busy. This is a big mistake I will quit watching ABC all together if you pull these two shows. ABC NEEDS TO RECONSIDER THIS DECISION!!!!!!!!!!

PLEASE DO NOT CANCEL THESE WONDERFUL SOAPS! They have been an "escape" from the real world for years, this is what makes them so wonderful and what keeps all of us, moms and daughters etc., watching!!! Please reconsider!!!

I am like so many others, a 3rd generation soap fan. I can't believe what a HUGE mistake Abc is making! you've polled the wrong type of people if u believe no one watches these shows! i will not be watching Abc once these shows go off the air!

This is awful. Using the show The View as a factor, give me a break some of us hate that show. If I want to listen to a group of girls arguing I can hang out with my kids. I have watched OLTL since it started and am really sad to see it go. I can assure you I have no desire to watch the shows you listed as replacements.
Please NO MORE talk shows or reality shows!!! Soap opera watchers are still alive and kicking, we're NOT all dead yet!!

Combine the two into one and leave us something. Talk shows don't take you away from the real world and give you a break. Soaps take you away to a wonderful and exciting place for just a little while. They make you feel like you are part of the story. Talk shows will never fill that need. If talk shows are all you have I don't need you any longer.

Sad, very sad, is what I am now feeling. I am heartsick knowing the 2 shows I watch everyday will be off the air soon, to make way for some more terrible daytime talk show or whatever non-sense they now put on. The only daytime tv I watch is AMC/OLTL, and have for over 40yrs.
Woman love Drama...thats why they have been so successful. Daytime drama may not have the viewer ship as night time dramas, but it is still DRAMA, and woman love them!! If you are replacing them w/talk shows..Lord help us all. How many more people are going to get DNA testing to prove their paternity, or listen to more Cackling Crows ramble on & on...Good Luck with that trash!

This is a very bad move on the part of ABC! I won't be watching the health food show that will replace One Life to Live. You can get that information anywhere. There are far to many talk shows and reality shows. OLTL has been a part of our TV viewing for almost 34 years! I record the show so I don't miss an episode. My family, including my husband, watched the show. It's hard for me to believe these Soaps have lost their popularity. I know a lot of people who are still watching! Maybe it is time to rethink this move!!!!

That's it why do all the real shows get cancelled for talk shows and reality tv???? Wtf!!!! Soaps r as much of culture as sports to men. The AMC is the "" mommy""" show that I truly love to watch during the day. My kids rest for that one hour that I get to relax and enjoy some good old drama. I'm done if this goes through. Done with ABC !!!!!

I have been watching AMC & OLTL for 33 yrs. now. It is a BIG part of my life, I will NEVER EVER watch anything on ABC again if they take my soaps off. The people that has made the decision to do this....they will regret it cause they will eventually be fired cause this is going to cause such a uproar. I think we sould protest at the ABC headquaters...I will make to trip from PA to do so
Laurie
April 15th, 2011 9:33 AM
And another thing if ABC does not care what the soapies think then we should show them how we feel. Boycott ABC now, if the numbers are strong enough they will keep the soaps. I will not turn ABC on except for the soaps until further notice. The only way to keep soaps is to put the pressure on now.

I am so excited two more talk shows and on top of that two people I do not know nor give a crap about. ABC has lost me, as it was the only thing I watched was the soaps, local news and Castle, so bye bye ABC put your liberal crap on the air, the soaps were one of the few places I did not have to have political views shoved down my throat and now you ruined that too.
So upset by this. I have stopped watching anything on ABC except these shows and now that they are leaving, I won't be watching ABC at all. Sooooo sick of talk shows. Get a clue ABC, even Oprah knows the talk show game (or informative show) is over done. No more network TV for me. Its all cable from here on out.

I am very disappointed in ABC for taking these 2 soap operas off the air. For what? Another talk show? Really? There are way to many talk and reality tv shows on now...This is terrifying for me because I'm a writer. How are we as writers able to show and explore our talents if our competition is reality tv and talk show hosts. I mean come on! Who lied and said your audience is looking for something else to watch. I don't think so. We all go to work discussing what exciting scenes we saw on prior days. This has gone on for decades all over....now we're faced with 2 more shows of applause, questions, opinions, arguements, cries, and etc all which will be happening all in the afternoon. Hmmmmmmmm along with Maury, Rachael Ray, The Doctors, Dr Phil, Cheaters, court tv, Dr Oz, Tyra, Nate, Ellen, & etc! I can go on!

I can't believe this really stupid decision on the part of ABC. Reading the various posts most people are as outraged as I am. I know many people will now defect in response and will probably start watching soaps on other networks because we are a country hard-wired to love a good soap. Most of the viewers have been watching for as long as they can remember because this has become a generational thing and I cannot believe that ABC did not take all of this into consideration when opting for another food and talk/reality show. We are sick to death of this. When most people come home from work, the last thing they want is reality. They need to escape and take their minds off their minds. I, for one, will not be watching ABC daytime anymore and will probably tune into another network station to get my soap fix. I also think a lot of people feel the same way and ABC should take notice of what demographic they are catering to.
ABC has lost another viewer. I've stoped watching so much TV, but AMC,OLTL,GH were 3 shows I watched. Now 2 are gone so I'm not watching the 3rd. It seems all networks want to mess up good things.

Who the hell are Mario Batali and Tim Gunn?Well I'll never know because my TV will be off till GH comes on.ABC you just made one big mistake! The last thing we want are more talk shows.I watched these shows with my mother, then my daughter and now my granddaughter.Who do you think watches these shows during the day?I don't see my husband turning on a talk show when he's home, but he will watch the soaps with me.
I will not be tuning into the new shows or any others on ABC. I have been watching these shows since I was in my mothers belly. I am 39 now and The people of One Life to Live and All My children Have brought me a great deal of joy, intrigue, and adventure My entire Life. Why the network would crush so many loyal viewers is beyond me. ABC PLEASE DON'T DO THIS. YOU ARE MAKING A HUGE MISTAKE!!!
OMG!! These shows have captivated millions of viewers, women, men and children alike for decades. Although the soap opera is a part of the history of the American woman, its not just a "housewife" thing. It is not an out of date genre! Soap Operas have evolved and changed to hit on very important current topics. Canceling these two shows will not only disappoint millions of loyal viewers who look forward to sitting down, unwinding, relaxing and watching their fav show.... it will ruin daytime TV for ABC. AMC and One Life to LIve are great soaps! ABC PLZ dont kill these two shows sell them to another network!!!!
Natalie: Everything's going to be fine, guys. Just - just do what he says. Flash: How can you be so calm? Natalie: I don't know if I am calm, okay? I just - ...
