Chyler Leigh Speaks on Grey's Anatomy Future
During a recent red carpet appearance, Chyler Leigh spoke about Patrick Dempsey and Ellen Pompeo potentially leaving Grey's Anatomy after this season.
No one wants that to happen, but if nothing else, the original cast will have one last great run this year, and Chyler - who joined the cast in Season Four and is still under contract for several more years - is ready to carry the Grey mantle if needed.

Love ALL the characters on the show but the show should really end with the original cast. In the first episode the chiefs first speech explains how the interns will be cut down through out the residency and only a few people will make it. There were 5 main interns in which Greys anatomy followed. One of them died and one of them left leaving three to remain. I don't think it would do the show justice to carry on the show without them, because with out knowing it, the journey of the 5 main interns really has been the overall and main story throughout the entire series. I hope the show does go on for a few more series with the main cast, but if not the series should end how it begun, about the main interns and them finally getting their deserved happy endings!

No. Just no. GREY'S in grey's anatomy stands for meredith grey, not LEXIE grey. Although I love lexie, I just couldn't watch her replace mer. She's the heart of the show. The original protagonist and nothin you people say is going to change that. Like it or not, Ellen pompeo is the one who makes grey's grey's. And of course Patrick Dempsey but what I mean to say is that she is the one. God how could you stand her not being on her tv show. I'd rather shonda ended grey's by the end of season 8 with a happy merder than watching grey's without grey. It's just stupid. God I'm pissed

Chyler & her character are BORING as is Tedious & April. They should all go, then give more screentime to the rest & the show could be good again. Stop having so many different writers put their spin on our beloved characters...they are spinning out of recognition. Then maybe Patrick & Ellen would stay...problem solved. Chyler Leigh, you are no Ellen Pompeo so stop trying to steal her role.

You know what!
The show (Grey's Anatomy) went on after Burke left, the show went on after Erica left, the show went on after George died, and the show went on after Izzie left, so I guess the show will go on if or when Derek and Meredith both leave the show.
I love the old Hollywood adage "The Show Must Go On" and Grey's Anatomy will be a show that will go on, no matter how many characters come and go.
Bring on Season 8, then Season 9 and let's hope we see a Season 10 then end the show with all our original interns all becoming attending surgeons and Lexie, Steve and Graciella will be 5th year residents, so if Lexie isn't the new Chief Resident give the role to Steve Mostow.
I am a fan of Meredith and Derek's and I would hate to see them leave, but the actors who portray them need to want to stay, so ABC and Shonda should be preparing new contracts for our original cast members.
So looking forward to everyone being on set next week and hopefully we will get confirmation

I love Chyler Leigh and I think people should leave her alone. SHe's trying to do the best she can, and fact is that if Ellen leaves after this season, Lexie will be the only Grey left, and she'll most likely be front-and-center.
I think Lexie is a very relatble character, more than Meredith so I wouldn't have any problems with her becoming the new heart of the show.

I'm a Mer's fan ,and i watch this show for her ,but i must listen the Cheryl's declaration ,i say this thinks to take the place of Ellen Pompeo 00 this is out.Them she has this new -hair , i remember you Cheryl that Ellen had it before of you in the documentary-episode...Ellen foreverrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Why can't Lexie become the next Grey in Grey's Anatomy. She has daddy issues too, you can't tell me she isn't a little bit embarrassed by her father when he was drinking. No child will admit to having an alcoholic for a parent. And the fact dad may have sobered up but now he is dating someone as old as Meredith.
Lexie may not be as dark and twisty as Meredith, she has her own set of problems which should be explored, no one wants to be a walking encyclopedia, that would of been very embarrassing to have while growing up, Lexie may have been bullied at school, Alex and Cristina always makes fun of Lexie's ability calling her Lexapedia, sometimes she goes with the flow but there are times you can see she really doesn't like her ability to remember things she has read.
I hope Meredith and Derek stay at Seattle Grace and Patrick Dempsey and Ellen Pompeo are given better story-line's and airtime and are given a really good deal for them to want to continue portraying such beautiful
