Grey's Anatomy: NOT Ending After Season Eight
Will the upcoming eighth season be Grey's Anatomy's swan song?
Not by a mile, Shonda Rhimes says, and we imagine ABC concurs.
Speculation of Ellen Pompeo and/or Patrick Dempsey's departure has run rampant this summer, but that's only because the original cast members' contracts are up.
After next spring, the original cast will be free agents, so to speak.
All of them could leave, all could sign new deals or some could fall into each camp. But creator Rhimes says Grey's Anatomy as a whole will go on beyond May 2012:

How do you know this for sure Shonda? Have ABC told you that. This speculation about Mer and Der has been going on for 7 months. It's December now and I think it's time the fans had some answers. I'm now hearing gossip about Christina, Alex, Bailey and the Chief being written out. Surely ABC would know what is happening with the show by now. No-one is telling because telling the truth would affect the ratings for this season. Fans will get upset and stop watching the show. Did Shonda actualy say she does not care about the fans? Or is that merely an assumption? She bloody well should care about the fans, the fans are the reason she has a job. I can't believe she doesn't care about the fans, that just does not make sense. Fess up with the truth ABC, we loyal fans are all frustrated and we want to know now!

there cannot be a grey's anatomy withput the original grey. the serie almost lost its glory when izzie and goerge left. not forgetting dr burke.
either bring them back in or end it. it will not be interesting without mer and der

Here's some big news for Shonda Rhimes. ABC is her boss and if Patrick and Ellen leave and the show has no fans, it won't matter what she thinks. I know she doesn't care what the fans think, but she might want to think about it. ABC can cancel this show anytime as they have for other programs. I guess she didn't see the People's magazine poll that said 60% of the fans won't watch without Patrick. No Fans, no advertisers, no advertisers, no show. Big news for Shonda. She might want to think about an incentive to keep Patrick and Ellen, like mature storylines, more airtime, instead of all these characters she brought in last season that no one cared about. Finally we hearing about a Shepherd family reunion. Gee, Derek was injured, married (sort of) and shot, and there was one scene with Derek's mother over 7 seasons. And now I hear it has to be a crossover with Private Practice, why? Just bring the characters to Grey's, and I don't mean KW.

I'm not sure I am going to be able to enjoy the NEW GA. Derek and Merideth BELONG together. And I am unhappy that it is over for the 2. I guess I will have to wait until it starts again to see if I am able to still watch. :(

Grey's needs a good shake up!!! If Ellen and Patrick leave, and even if they don't SHONDA RHIMES SHOULD BRING BACK ISAIAH WASHINGTON!! He made a mistake by saying things he should not have but he apologized. And that would make for a awesome story line!!! So Yang would possibly have choose between Owen and Burke!! Then they could become the new head characters of the show. Then you also have Lexie, Mark, Arizona, and Callie. Come on Shona do me proud!!!!

I don't want grey's to end as it's my all time fave. but if patrick and ellen do leave please finish grey's anatomy with some justice if they do. have them go off into the sunset and with ur remaining characters have a new show with a NEW name. you can't have grey's anatomy without the grey i'm sorry, u just can't.

It's hard to imagine GA without Merder... Eversince George and Izzie left the show it felt more and more empty. How much more if these two love birds are gone? They might as well make another show and leave GA this final season for Merder

im so happy that my lifetime show is going to stay... i just felt some tears of happiness.. now i dont have kill patrick or ellen for leaving and ruining the show even if i do hate there characters but i hate kim's character
