Jane Lynch and Mark Salling Respond to Glee Casting News, Graduation

at . Comments

The cast of Glee will look very different on season four. But at least two of our favorite characters won't be going anywhere: Sue Sylvester and Noah "Puck" Puckerman.

In response to the announcement that Lea Michele, Cory Monteith and Chris Colfer will all be exiting the series in 2012, Jane Lynch and Mark Salling recently spoke out on the shocking development.

Unhappy Singers

"[Creator Ryan Murphy] rarely makes bad calls," Lynch said. "But I think it's kind of cool that they will graduate. And I also think it's kind of cool that the teachers get to stay."

Salling, meanwhile, told E! News he had "no idea" the casting move was coming: "I'm just grateful to be there and have a job and be around as long as they need me to be and want me."

Could he see any of the exiting actors starring in a spin-off, an idea gaining momentum among fans?

"I'm not a writer, but I can see that being a possibility," Salling said. "I think that's a good idea."

@BrittanaHasAlwaysBeOn, Naya Rivera recently announced that sadly, she too will be among the graduating members of McKinley High's New Directions.

If Rachel, Kurt and Finn graduate in season 3, then the entire Glee Club should graduate as well. They are suppossed to be the same age. Besides, we all know that Lea Michele and Chris Colfer are the show :)

ok so i am upset about them graduating but ONE THING i dont understand.. Is ryan an idiot.. i mean kurt is the only one out of ALL of them that actually looks like a teenager.. even Rachel... Ok fin i understand evn tho i love him but he cant pull of the teenager look.. u can tell he is older.. but the one's who actually do look like teens should stay i/e rachel, kurt, tina cohen, arty, .. and another thing.. the only development of season 2 was kurt's storyline.. the rest of the episodes were filled with rubbish.. weird guest stars.. the episodes being about the songs instead of the story lines and many unfinished plots!!And now theyre getting rid of him, it was a very sloppy season!! but whatever i still love glee so let's see where this goes :)

I think it's such a shame that they're graduating Kurt and Rachael? they're the best ones in the show, especially Kurt. I really hope that they're going to do a spin-off in New York with these two characters, as they would be brilliant together. Their friendship on Glee is so compelling and people would love to see how they both get on in the world outside high school.

no offense to jane lynch but when she said ryan murphy rarely makes a bad call was she talking about the same ryan murphy we all know ?!
i mean the guy kinda almost ruined season 2 for a lot of us ?!
i do understand the cast will need to graduate but did ryan seriously see it as a wise decision to get rid of 3 of the most loved characters that probably had more screen time than any of the other cast for both seasons ?!
i'd love to see a spin off with kurt and rachel ... they're my favourite characters (apart from blaine)

finn is dumb as a nail but he gets to graduate??? besides, puck is an athlete... you cant play if you have failing grades...

Seriously! This sounds like suicide by a thousand cuts. To use my former analogy, it's like The Mary Tyler Moore Show deciding to cut Mary, Lou Grant and Murray Slaughter and hanging on to Gordy the weatherman, Ruth Ann and Chuckles the clown! Or, more recently, cutting Jerry Seinfeld, George Costanza and Elaine Benes, keeping the rest of the cast and hoping to pick up replacements for the cuts. They're cutting virtually all the stars and keeping the support cast and hoping to get (cheaper) replacement stars from middle school. It wasn't genius getting these three incredibly talented actors and it certainly wasn't scripting that created that Harry Potter-level magical dynamic between Rachel and Finn. And, I assume that based upon this latest selective graduation decision, we're forced to believe that it was pure dumb luck. Now, it looks like the show is going to be constrained to a shoestring budget in the hopes that the producers will get lucky and "step in it" again. I really don't see that happening, and it sucks because this is one of my favorite shows... headed over the cliff with nobody to grab the wheel.

It is not fair that Mark salling is staying on the show while Lea michele cory monteith and chris colfer are leaving especially Lea michele. She makes the show what it is and without her thisshow is nothing.

I'm not too sure what to think about this. I mean its clear that every actor on the show that plays a teenager is really older than what they appear to be. What gets me, and of course this is an opinion so don't hate me for this, but Lea Michele makes the show. Sure, they will be leaving season four but without Rachel Berry what exactly does Glee have to offer? I know, I know, there are many other characters, I for one am pleased that Naya and Heather are staying, but it still doesn't make sense for Rachel, Finn, and Kurt to graduate... Isn't everyone in Glee club the same age? I'm a little lost on that note, however, this could mean that Mercedes, Tina, and Mike may finally get a storyline...

He can repeat a year, the trouble makers are in most cases poor students. Back in season 1 when finn told him his mother had an inflamed prostate he bought it...

Glee Quotes

[to Finn] You know, I don't really know what's going to happen between us, but I know that you used to be the guy that would make me feel like the most special girl in the whole world, and it doesn't feel that way anymore. Now it just feels sad and confusing. And the worst part is that it doesn't even feel that bad anymore.

I'm engorged with venom, and triumph.
