90210 Review: To the Max!

at . Comments

The Greek games may have been the subject of "Let the Games Begin," but the real games were being played with everyone's emotions.

Once again, Naomi stole the spotlight. I don't know what it is about that girl this season but she's on fire. She gets the best lines, the best retorts, the best wardrobe and the best love triangles.

Max may have unwittingly come back because of Holly's dirty tricks, but it seemed that Naomi didn't mind one bit. I liked Max so it was a nice surprise to see him unexpectedly make an appearance. Especially when it caused Naomi to get slimed. And Austin to be bewildered for once.

Return of Max

I had wondered if the writers had forgotten about nerdy Max. He'd been such a big part of last season's storyline, so to just write him off and then introduce Austin as Naomi's new conquest seemed lazy. Surprise, surprise.

The reunion scene between Naomi and Max was genuinely sweet. But then again the kitchen scenes with Austin were genuinely smoldering. Can't wait to see how this manage-a-trois heats up.

The Greek games were fun to watch, as was Holly finally getting her comeuppance. All hail Naomi, the new head of the Greek council.

Holly immediately aimed her revenge at Annie, who had foiled her chance at retaining her title. But that's okay because now we'll get to see Annie really start being an adult by turning tricks. Yay!

Elsewhere: Navid, thankfully, got his old hairstyle (and attitude) back. Maybe because Shirazi Studios was finally making money... due, of course, to good old Uncle Amal's illegal car theft ring. But, hey, whatever works.

Dixon didn't want to blow his chance at achieving worldwide fame as a singer/songwriter and once again turned to Austin's ADHD meds. Only it seemed he'd been hitting them pretty hard and needed more. We'll see how good of a performer he is in that studio. I'm betting he'll sound like a tweaked-out turd next week.

By the way, I loved the little nerdy Asian girl with her pill spiel on the beach. Who would have thought such a tiny thing had all the makings of a hardcore dealer?

Ivy and Raj made an appearance together again. I like that Ivy reclaimed her surfer girl status, while Raj showed glimmers of the old tough guy that Ivy fell in love with. Still, this storyline seemed headed for a sad end with the introduction of Nick, the National Geographic freelance photographer.

Silver's horrific commercial for Liam's bar, Offshore, turned out to be spectacularly successful. But this being 90210, would it have turned out any other way?

And Adrianna thought she was being stalked when it turned out that that creepy guy on the pier was Jim, Jane's dead husband. Why hadn't Adrianna seen that picture above the bar before? Whatever. At least Liam won't have to throw another hissy fit because Jane needed to get Jim's life insurance money to survive. Now he'll have to concentrate on Jim not killing him.

Sweet, sweet revenge. How good it feels - but how bad it can really be. For scenes from next week's episode, watch this 90210 promo now!

OMG. Annalynne McCord doesn't know how to play vunerable... I mean I felt it when she was trying to seduce the redneck but with Max... I just.. Idk...

Max sounds so sad when he told Naomi about why he wrote the letter, especially when Naomi said she was supposed to burn it. I cried during their scenes.

OMG MAX. YAY. I've been waiting ages to see if he would come back. GREAt DECISION WRITERS. NOW LETS GET A NAOMI/MAX WEDDING! haha jj. but i do love them..

@Arlene G: To answer your questions about why Adrianna had not seen the photo on the board before; I think it was because Jane had given it to Liam to hang up earlier on at the beginning of the episode and she just hadn't taken notice of it until then. However, I'm more concerned about two things:
1. If he (Jim) was all (to Adrianna) "don't tell them I'm here", why the hell would HE walk into Liam's bar, where BOTH Liam and Jane are walking? Hello? Are you blind?
2. If the bar was sooooo busy all of a sudden, why wasn't Adrianna working? If she's going to insist on ONLY cleaning up at the bar when it's closing time, why not just become a janitor?

Wow! Just wow! I've seen intense episodes of 90210 before, but that one was intense!
Every storyline revolving around Naomi was excellent. Greek games, Austin, Max, etc. I'm glad she didn't cheat on Max. I was honestly expecting her to. She does have chemistry with Austin, but it's Max!
As for Annie, I laughed when she got blamed for everything... AGAIN! Poor little Annie can't catch a break. I LOVE IT!
Dixon's storyline is getting even more intense. I do wish, however, that they'd go up more from ADHD medication and go into something like cocaine or something.
Liam and Adrianna's lives keep running around one another. It's rather fascinating. I'm not sure if I wanna see Dixon or Liam with Adrianna to be honest. So glad Jane left for majority of the episode. She is utterly boring! I knew something was fishy when that guy started asking Adrianna questions. I first assumed it was Jane's deceased husband's brother or something, but it being her actual husband makes it even more interesting! Oh well, the faster Jane is gone, the better!
Silver and Navid STILL manage to bore me! Honestly, BREAK UP ALREADY! This show has ruined a LOT of good relationships, so why is it so ironic that they've kept the WORST couple together? As for Silver, I know she hates Adrianna, but if you were really being a good friend to Liam, she would have asked Adrianna to star in the commercial for Liam's bar. She would have saved a lot of time and money by doing so.
As for Ivy, why did it seem as though she's actually shifting from being a bad to good to now bad character (again) for me? I was beginning to like her, but when she surfs and does her whole downy phase, I can't stand her. I just want Raj to die off, so we can see the emotional breakdown, that of which is Ivy.

♫Let the games begin.
Let the light come shining in.
Who knows where the road will lead 90210 now?
Look at what we've found.
Make this moment turn our hearts around.
It may never come again let it in
Let the games begin.♫ Max+Naomi=Let the love begin Best. Episode. Over. I love that Max and Naomi moment. :D Love love the review and this is coming from someone who never always agrees to a TV Fanatic review of a 90210 episode. Keep it up! :D

There's little point to watching any storyline that doesn't involve Naomi (read the whiteboard on freeze frame :D). Jim being alive is just bad writing/storyline (now we throw out most of the Liam/Jane storyline ). Navid gets money from his criminal uncle and everything's fine? Grimes playing a serious role badly=unintentional humour but still isn't very entertaining (egg donation, jasper, and now escorting). Annie could live with Naomi, mooch off Naomi, she doesn't need to become an escort and which (dun dun dun) will lead to prostitution and associated bad stuff. Obvious Dixon storyline of becoming a drug addict is obvious (see Dixon's gambling addiction). Ivy was actually watchable surfing and chatting to the photog.

I love Max so much! I thought he and Naomi were perfect. I admit Austin and her are really hot but I don't want Max to be heartbroken :-(

Mister archibald

All of these episodes were THAT good and THIS episode was OOO MAA GOD! It was seriously mind blowing (90210 standards, of course).
