Rose Leslie Lands Major Role on Game of Thrones

by at . Comments

Two big pieces of news out of HBO this week:

  1. Game of Thrones will return in April.
  2. Rose Leslie has landed the final major role of season two.

The actress, best known for having played Gwen on Downton Abbey, will portray Ygritte, a Wildling woman who meets Jon Snow during his adventurous time beyond the Wall.

The character plays a key part in the books on which the series is based and described as “strong-willed, witty, skilled in battle and survival in the wilderness." She's an "unconventional beauty" who is thin, yet powerful.
