Seriously, NBC?!?

by at . Comments

NBC is the lowest rated network on television by a wide margin, and this is its solution: bench Community. Keep Whitney on the air.

In a move that executives swear does not mean the funniest show on television has been canceled, Community will take a seat on January 12 in favor of the returning 30 Rock. Meanwhile, Whitney will switch places with Up All Night.

Elsewhere, Prime Suspect fans should start saying goodbye now. The show is nowhere to be found on the following 2012 schedule...

Community is a lot better than Whitney. Whitney on Wednesday at 8:30 would have been good. I could barely watch the premier of Prime Suspect and I never felt like watching another episode.

Why do you need to move Up All Night? Now I wont be able to watch it becuase of Greys and Bones. Poor choice NBC, you need to rethink what you are doing. Also where is Parenthood going? Just taking its break until that new show is over?

Unfortunately, 'Community' has always been the poorest performer in NBC's Thursday night comedy block schedule. I believe that even last season 'Outsourced' had about the same or even slightly better ratings than 'Community,' and that show only lasted that one year. Although critically panned, 'Whitney' premiered strong this season and has audience numbers that currently make it the second-most-watched NBC comedy on Thursday nights. 'Community' is a fan-favorite show and I read that it was well liked by pre-Comcast-controlled NBC. But ratings over the course of the current 2+ seasons has not improved and probably won't get any better. 'Parks and Recreation' only does slightly better than 'Community,' but it has the advantage of more acknowledged accolades (Emmy nominations, critic reviews/support, etc.). 'The Office' is still NBC's strongest Thursday night comedy. And '30 Rock' (which may actually do worse than 'Community' in average ratings) is always NBC's Emmy darling so won't disappear any time soon. Getting a few magazine feature articles here and there and usually being among the top-voted Hulu 'Best In Show' productions may not be enough to keep 'Community' around. While I understand that NBC needs to try to find better-watched shows to improve their situation, I just hope that they will not cancel 'Community' later if these new schedule changes work for them. *SAD*

well there goes up all night..death trap trying to compete with greys and person of interest...i cant believe what they are doing with these shows...

HOLD ON....they did WHAT?!?! No Community?!? No one on earth is watching Brian Williams - but they kept that. And where the hell is CHUCK on that schedule?! There are supposed to be 13 episodes on this final season, and I didn't think it would be done by January (not with Christmas in the middle). Don't tell me they're not airing all the episodes... Seriously NBC. I think I almost now hate them more than I hate Fox for cancelling Arrested Development and Firefly...

I actually thought (hoped) that NBC would have just moved 'Whitney' to the Wednesday 8:30PM to 9:00PM time slot that was left open when 'Free Agents' got canned. This would have left a space for '30 Rock' to come back to Thursday nights without really affecting 'Community,' 'Parks and Recreation,' and 'The Office.' This decision is terrible! 'Community' is currently my favorite comedy and has had so many creative episodes. I know it's not a show for everyone, and unfortunately the ratings reflect that, but I had hoped that NBC would give this fan-favorite show a chance to at least finish out the third season or possibly go four complete seasons so that viewers can watch the characters can graduate and move on. NBC didn't say 'Community' is canceled, but I have a bad feeling about this.
