Sons of Anarchy Round Table: "Call of Duty"

at . Comments

A member of SAMCRO literally blew up on this week's "Call of Duty," while events turned more explosive than ever via Otto's apparent turn, the return of Wendy and a discovery made by Opie.

In other words: there's plenty of material for Round Table panelists Matt Richenthal, Dan Forcella and Christine Orlando to break down. Join them below as they analyze the latest episode in their weekly Q&A...

What was your favorite scene from the episode?
Matt: The first time Jax saw Gemma and her face. Those few moments of silence and that contained rage was perfectly played by Charlie Hunnam.

Dan: It was the conversation between Juice and Chibbs in which we realized how dumb the former was this entire season. Unlike Matt, I feel less cheated by the storyline now because the club doesn't have a problem with race. It ended up being a plot about a younger group member not really knowing the way of the club, and freaking out about it. I buy that much more than SOA all of the sudden hating African-Americans more than life itself.

Christine: It was at the very end when Tigg turned in his Sgt. of Arms badge. Man, I never saw that coming. Clay's killed Piney, beaten Gemma and been threatened by Jax, but this was the one thing that seemed to put a tiny chink in his armor.

Were you excited to see Wendy again?
Matt: Not really. It's just too much. Of course it's conceivable that she could return, cleaned up and anxious to get to know her child. But there's SO darn much already going on this season, this just felt overly cruel to Tara. Come on, Kurt Sutter! Give the girl a break.

Dan: Excited? No. I didn't hate it, though. I don't mind piling on the obstacles for Jax and Tara. They get what they deserve for not getting out of town earlier.

Christine: Ugh. No. Talk about bad timing. Poor Tara feels like her career is gone and now someone's threatening to interfere with her kids. I was surprised Gemma gave Wendy so much leeway. I'm guessing that's not the last we'll see of that confrontation. You don't mess with Gemma's grandkids.

More likely to kill Clay: Jax, Opie, Unser or Other?
Matt: Other. As in, an other possibility. I just think it's too obvious at this point that someone will kill him off. He might get arrested, he might come up with some power play... and I'd be okay with that. But I won't be okay with any kind of cop out that somehow leaves Clay as President when the season ends.

Dan: Oh, I think thing's were set up perfectly for Opie to kill Clay. As soon as I think Sons is going to zig, it always seem to zag, so I am going to say... Other. Here's hoping that Tig does the deed. The moment he gave up his Sgt. at Arms patch was so frigid that I can see him taking one for the team here.

Christine: It could be any of the above at this point. You could even throw in Tigg and Gemma, but I have a new theory. What if just as Clay's about to be killed, Potter ends up arresting him instead? It could keep Clay alive for next season.

Rank Opie's reaction to Piney's death among all-time gut-wrenching scenes on Sons of Anarchy.
Matt: Number-one. Tara gave us one last week, but the only competition would be Gemma's rape scene from season two. That was a different sort of stomach-turner, however. This scene was utter, raw emotion. If the Emmys knew SOA existed, Ryan Hurst would have automatically earned a nomination here.

Dan: It is up there right near the top. I wouldn't put it as number-one, but it was definitely the first time I saw Ryan Hurst play someone other than Opie on this show. A little bit of Gerry Bertier came out in Hurst in that moment, and that is not a bad thing.

Christine: It's definitely up there. He was so distraught and in shock I really didn't know what he was going to do in that moment. I think he could have easily shot Unser simply as an outlet for his rage. This club has taken everything, his wife, his father... and you felt it all in that scene.

Its not that he is black its more of did he lie avout gis race to get into the mc, hense why Chibs asked about his bc.

Its bot that he is black its more of did he lie avout gis race to get into the mc, hense why Chibs asked about his bc.

The Juice storyline totally makes sense. Just because they deal with people who are black does not mean they arent racist. When Juice has the conversation with Chibs and asks how he feels about the rule that says african americans are not allowed, Chibs states that it is in fact a rule. So why would Juice not feel threatened by this rule? Juice is my favorite character on this show so I am hoping that something happens so he doesn't in fact turn out to be a rat and isnt killed or something.

you never know what kurt has in is crazy free for all brain he might kill 3 or more people before part 1 of season 4 finishs just guessing game all season thats why show is the best season ever he really knows how to keep you hooked. but i hope clay finally gets what is coming to him and not jail

SAMCRO was never a racist group if you refer to season 1 and 2 they were at war with Darby's crew and Ethan Zobelle, so the fact that juice is half black should have no affect. What I think may happen though is juice will set Clay up for prison, and possibly in prison it will give Otto time to shine and he will kill Clay when the new President Jax sends the order. With all this riding up I think Gemma will die, at the hands of Clay (she will rush in to save Tara or something) and hopefully it some how sets up for a season 5 without Clay as president...

Maybe big otto gets a hold of clay if clay happens to land in jail. Bobby and Otto are set to meet, and who knows, they might come up with a plan to get clay in prison and off him then.

I think Wendy returning will allow for Tara to have her "Gemma moment" that Kurt once talked about. I think Tara will kill Wendy...maybe have Gemma help hide the Gemma leverage to keep Tara in Charming.

I always thought the "Juice is 1/2 black" was bogus as well. Not one of the SOA members of Charming Chapter is a white supremacist to my knowledge. Denise, I agree with with about Gemma/Wendy situation. I know Jax is dealing with a lot but to let him believe that Tara just flipped out again instead of telling him that Wendy showed up and told Tara that she wants to become acquainted with Able was clearly to manipulate JAX into staying. She doesn't want to lose her boy or her grandsons especially now that she has lost Clay too. I can't wait until Jax finds out about Clay trying to have Tara killed, his mother knowing, and the lengths that Clay went to ie. setting up LOBO, and subsequently getting the whole club involved in a minefield shootout in which the whole chapter could have been killed just to cover his A**. Kurt, please don't let Tara be killed. I want to see her and Jax and their boys live happily ever after! Tig is beside himself now too. I don't think he will be the one to kill clay. But there friendship is forever fractured. Like Wayne, he loves Gemma too. However, like Christine, I think Clay will be arrested before anyone can kill him and he maybe killed in prison.

Hands down best scene ever on this show was the pain on Jax' face looking at Tara in the hospital bed after learning she went crazy and re-broke her hand. Then crawling into bed with her....that KILLED me! I hope next week starts with her waking to him in her bed. You would think these men would quickly bail on their Ol Lady if she went a little mental. Jax clearly loves her no matter what and will stand by her side even if shes a little mental for awhile. I think he blames himself for it and it will make them closer.

I agree with Christine. I think Clay will be arrested before anyone can kill him.We saw pictures posted by Kurt showing the prison transport van. I think it will be Clay inside that van.
When Jax finds out Juice is half black, he wont give a shit. But his trust in Juice is questionable.
