American Film Institute Names Top 10 Programs of 2011

It's pretty much impossible to argue with any of these selections.

The American Film Institute named its top 10 programs of 2011 today, with a handful of TV Fanatic favorites making the list (they will be honored during a January 13 ceremony in Los Angeles). They are:

The Stare of GusJay and Phil Cook

  1. Breaking Bad
  2. Boardwalk Empire
  3. Curb Your Enthusiasm
  4. Game of Thrones
  5. The Good Wife
  6. Homeland
  7. Justified
  8. Louie
  9. Modern Family
  10. Parks and Recreation

** Starting tomorrow, I'll run down my own list of 2011's best shows. Spoiler alert: it will include a few of the programs cited here.

Glad to see the Good Wife getting its due. It's smart, it's relevant, it packs a punch with subtleties. Wahoo Good Wife!

Curb your Enthusiasm, Louie and The Good Wife are fine, but they shouldn't stand a chance compared to Community, The Walking Dead or Hell on Wheels. It's a disservice to not include any of these shows on that list.

Modern Family, Breaking Bad, The Good Wife, Game of Thrones and Homeland are definitely on my top 10 list but Sons of Anarchy is right at the top, its a FANTASTIC show

i can argue. good wife? please. and modern family? i would say it's no longer the funniest show on tv; third season isn't nearly as funny as the last two. community all the way

it's actually easy to argue Louie as not deserving to be on this list. 10 worst shows of 2011? absolutely.
