Confirmed: Glee to Air Whitney Houston Tribute Episode

by at . Comments

A title card at the conclusion of its winter premiere was not enough for Glee.

Sources now confirm to E! News that the Fox hit will is filming an entire episode dedicated to Whitney Houston, with an insider saying it will "not be a typical tribute" in the form of past such episodes based around Madonna or Britney Spears.

"It's using Whitney's music as a way to say goodbye," the source adds. "A way to respectfully say thank you for her music."

Look for the installment to center around seniors such as Rachel, Kurt and Finn and their difficulty in letting go.

personally I think they should do a Davy Jones tribute, it is only fair, not only was she a pioneer of music but so was The Monkeesm they were one of the original mind set of boy bands and did have a numerous amount of hits. They also had great songs that did not make it main stream.

No need to take some other steps to grab more audience @ Glee such it already has massive fan following within fewer time frames. I hope Ryan Murphy rethinks about this.

Glee is a good show, but there are better entertainers than Whitney Houston. Glee should have a tribute show for Davy Jones, who just passed on 2/29. Davy was a great man, a decent family man and deserves a Glee tribute. Tony Award nomination for Oliver in 1963 and so many number one songs the list is endless.

Not only Michael this season but Saturday Night Fever 70's music like The BeeGee's music tribute also. 6 more episodes. Not enthused about Whitney Houston tribute at all. There are so many wonderful artists song to convey the emotions of the seniors. Save this tribute til s4. I agree with a prior poster I enjoyed the Madonna and Michael tributes. Britany was a flop. Whitney Houston was an artist unequal to anyone. She had flawless talent and deserves a special tribute just not this season-too soon.

There should have been a third option in the poll that said, "Rachel, Finn and Kurt? Why not also Santana and Brittany?? We need more lady kisses." or "As long as the episode is more like the Michael than the Britney/Brittany, I would interested. And Santana should get the best performance."

Omg, RM! Another tribute?! Honestly, how hard is it to stick to GOOD STORYTELLING??? No offense to Houston and may she rest in peace, but really there is no need for this. This show already has enough trouble writing sensible and coherent stories, now there going to write another episode that's based around songs! For pete's sake, stick to CHARACTER DRIVEN episodes. This show has become one big iTunes commercial. We have enough Houston songs being re-released on iTunes now.

No thnks! I think we deserve smth better then just another "tribute". Whitney was great & stuff but to be honest: I´ve never heard smth else then her AND IIII... blah. I really hope it´s the last tribute for this season, im kinda fed up with them although I loved Madonna´s Vogue from s2.

Glee Quotes

You know, a great big fat person once stood on this stage and told a group of a dozen or so nerds in hideous disco outfits that glee, by its very definition, is about opening yourself up to joy. Now it's no secret that for a long time I thought that was a load of hooey. As far as I could see the glee club was nothing but a place where a bunch of cowardly losers go to sing their troubles away and delude themselves into thinking that they live in a world that cares one iota about their hopes and dreams, totally divorced from the harsh reality that in the real world there's not much more to hope for than disappointment, heartbreak, and failure. And you know what. I was exactly right. Thats exactly what glee club is. But I was wrong about the cowardly part. What I finally realized, now that I'm well into my late thirties, it takes a lot of bravery to look around you and see the world not as it is but as it should be. A world where the quarterback becomes best friends with the gay kid, and the girl with the big nose ends up on Broadway. Finding the courage to open up your heart and sing about it. That's what glee club is. And for the longest time I thought that was silly, and now I think it's just about the bravest thing that anyone could do.

[to Finn] You know, I don't really know what's going to happen between us, but I know that you used to be the guy that would make me feel like the most special girl in the whole world, and it doesn't feel that way anymore. Now it just feels sad and confusing. And the worst part is that it doesn't even feel that bad anymore.
