Matthew Rhys Cast on FX's The Americans

Matthew Rhys has landed his first starring role since Brothers & Sisters, and it's on one of the fall's most intriguing new pilots.

The actor will appear opposite Keri Russell on FX's The Americans, a drama that finds these two residing in the United States as a married couple of undercover Russian spies.

Problems will arise as the Cold War escalates - the series will be set in the 1980s - and as Rhys' Phillip grows more and more attached to life in America.

Joe Weisberg (Falling Skies) and Graham Yost (Justified) will write the pilot and we can't help but wonder: will Russell and Rhys speak with Russian accents?!?

I am never to forget the day great director D W Griffith make Birth of a Nation in Greenpoint. And now Russian Spies in Mamaroneck? They must have chosen Mamaroneck because of all the bars and restaurants. They seem to have brought enough people for a full season of episodes. Ha!!

Hmmm...if I had to guess, no accents in public, and a big not likely in private. Maybe in the first ep and sparingly throughout the series.

Husband: I must go now, wife
Wife: More American - we can be killed!
    Husband: Er, G'bye, Sweetie!
