When they talk about "larger implications to the franchise," they mean the books. I have never read the books and am not sure they are still being written, but if they reveal who GG is on the show would have some effect on the books.

I'm pretty sure they mean that they have to get the approval to reveal gossip girl and talk out the identity with Cecily Von Ziegesar. she wrote the book series and never revealed the GG identity, so she gets to say who GG is or is not and when or when not to reveal her. it wouldn't be cool for the writers to impact her books by not going exactly by her wishes for the GG reveal.

Such Geniuses these writers and producers are! Spend FIVE years growing and maturing these characters then with the snap of their fingers they are back to where they started and now they expect us to believe that in ELEVEN episodes next season they will take them from where they are to where they will be. (I'm assuming they will want the characters happy and fulfilled in life) Let's not even get started on how they pulled a Stefan Dimera with Bart Bass. How many enemies can a person have? We were told Russel Thorpe was his main enemy. And was this new 'enemy' so bad that he couldn't step in and take over when Russell was trying to take over Bass Industries? Its ridiculous. I will not watch anymore, will not comment any further. It will be like Gossip Girl never existed. So long! X0X0

I'm looking forward to Season 6. I hope that: Chuck and Blair will be in a stable, passionate relationship and they will establish their empires together, Serena and Blair will reconcile and will finally understand how important they are to each other, Serena will find a career that she enjoys, The Spectator will thrive and Nate will find a girl who will actually stick around (I wish it would be Serena), Dan would move to LA to have his books made into movies, Georgina will continue to wreak havoc in the UES, Jenny and Eric will return for a while, and Vanessa will be revealed as GG ( she has always been jealous of S).

What show do some of you think you're watching? You want the characters to grow and be at peace, maybe you should be watching hart of dixie then. The characters will never really grow as long as they stay in the UES. Have you seen the character's parents? These people are rich, greedy, lonely, depressed, spoiled and constantly fighting. I liked this season finale because it was true to the show and it's name. I hope season 6 is similar to seasons 1 and 2, because the writers definitely got off track with this Blouis, Dair and Rufly coupling and ridiculous storylines.

@G. Singular I don't think they'll do that because those 2 previous times they almost killed off Chuck to introduce more drama into the Chair relationship.the show itself and to have a "gasp" worthy.OMFG yelling cliffhanger so I'm still hoping nobody dies

@The Observer, they always like to kill Chuck, I guess in Season 6 they will really meant to kill him. I don't know why they like to do that to Chuck, I will be sad if they do. Bring a bad-ass Serena back, ala-Jenny in Season 3. Where she will be so mean to the bone and cannot be redeemed anymore, that would be exciting.
@tati, that means the producers/writers themselves don't have a clue who is the real GG. They will have to think more twisted reality in order to make GG as one of the core characters. Maybe it's true, they will twist everything to make Dan the real GG.

I'm looking forward to the final season. I want to see what a Bass-Waldorf wedding would look like :)
Lily and Rufus--there's no love there. She was just toying with him--someone to wait on her, hand and foot, while she played she-who-must-be-obeyed (apologies to Rumpole).
I still believe that Bart is playing Lily, and she's going to wind up one of the biggest losers, at the end.
Also, I hate Kaylee (Ivy) Defer's haircolor. UGH. Pick a color--red or blonde. She looked better as a blonde.

Singular But there's also the option that they'll reward us for following the show for 5 years and give us a completely happy ending for the 5 main characters-nobody dying,everybody with someone,all of them being successful and finding their direction in life,a Chair wedding and a Derena reunion/engagement(depending on GG being given additional episodes)

DAIR @ season 6 ! They belong together, make it work!
please let them be more ! more passion! Dan is clearly in love with her, why let him be lonely boy until the end? it´s a great twist on the show, if you see the pilot, how things can change. Be bold! try something else, not the typical Chair Ending... shake it a bit !

Singular I was thinking about that too and I'll be very sad if they kill off someone from the NJBC or Dan but I guess it's inevitable unless they kill of one of the parents.Depending on whether Derena is endgame or not Dan and Serena currently look like the most likely options.So if they aren't endgame one of them will probably die but if they are then one of the parents(Lily,Rufus,Bart) will probably die.

Guys, this is Gossip Girl, don't expect an absolute happy ending. For sure one of the main characters will die, and the NJBC will be irreparable. Leave the happy ending to Once Upon a Time.

The whole interview sounds crap. Who cares that Blair is chasing after Chuck - when isn't she?? Serena on a downward spiral - got no sympathy. The girl has more opportunities available to her than most and blows them. Why on earth is the sex tape going to be a dramatic reveal in any way - its not like it's going to break Dair up! I actually hope Dan doesn't go all dark because I want him to rise above all their crap and show them how pointless their dramas are in the grand scheme of things. He's better off outside the UES - let the spoilt brats and their overgrown spoilt parents keep it. That would be the ultimate get back - show them how truly irrelevant they are. Bit like how this shows turned out!

@No Second Troy I watched it too but that doesn't mean this will be season 1 all over again but just that it will be more simillar to it than for example season 4.Anyway I respect your choice and also hope that you will keep informed on season 6 beacuse you never know and you just may like it
