Enjoying what many consider its best season to date, Nurse Jackie received the green light today for at least one more.
Showtime President David Nevins has announced the series has been renewed and former Dexter producer Clyde Phillips named new showrunner.
“Clyde brings a unique combination of skills in both comedy and drama, and he is a master at making entertaining and compelling television,” said Nevins in a press release. “We are so thrilled with the series’ performance this year, and we know that with the incomparable Edie Falco in front of the camera, the fifth season of Nurse Jackie will be even better.”
The Season 4 premiere drew over 1.1 million viewers, a 30 percent over its prior season’s opener; while the series averages 2.77 million total weekly viewers across platforms that include On Demand, Live +7 and replays.
With the season now drawing to a close, meanwhile, viewers are left to wonder: Which Nurse Jackie character will die?
