AMC Cancels The Killing

Following a critically-lambasted first season finale and a lackluster second season that saw a precipitous drop in the ratings, AMC has taken The Killing off life support.

The network announced today that it has canceled the dark drama.

A Killing Clue?

“After much deliberation, we’ve come to the difficult decision not to renew The Killing for a third season," said the network in a statement. "AMC is incredibly proud of the show and is fortunate to have worked with such a talented team on this project, from showrunner Veena Sud and our terrific partners at Fox Television Studios to the talented, dedicated crew and exceptional cast.”

Hey, there is a bright side, fans: at least you finally know who killed Rosie Larsen.

While I will miss it, I think it is a smart move. The two seasons were wonderful and the ending was brilliant. Great acting, and while sometimes irritating, was combined with fascinating story telling. I am so glad that they created the show and I wish them all the best!!!

That's a big strike for the buffoons in suits at AMC......I'm still hooked of HOW, BB and MM (DVR and FF the commercials)....but i'm kicking Walking dead to the curb for GP.....

They ruined the show by solving the murder in 2 years, here we watch Mentalist and other CSI shows solving murders in 1 Episode… it has lot of potential but AMC\’s bad decision to end the season 1 without Rosie Larson\’s Killer made it unbearable towards the season 2. I almost use to forward all of the Governor\’s scenes they were so boring.. even though they gave Rosie A New Killer with a Twist of her Aunt still they knew no one is returning back but the Good Thing is Mireille Enos (World War Z, Gangster Squad & Devil’s Knot: The True Story of the West Memphis Three)and Joel Kinnaman (ROBOCOP, Lola Versus) getting big roles so can’t wait to see them in movies.

Not a surprise. They really screwed up.

Good. The Killing watered down AMC becoming an alternative to HBO and Showtime, one quality show a a time. There are too many other options to spend time on than a show that failed as miserably as The Killing did. It was a disaster, creatively bankrupt, embarrassing and disappointing.

Many viewers did not just hate the first season’s ambiguous ending. It’s a story about process, not a definitive resolution. The Killing actively drove you away, with its obvious “red herring” formula that was violently shoe-horned into nearly every episode, as if off an assembly line. I was saying, “let’s wait for the finale” to finish this procedural show that is not even network pablum.

Showrunner Veena Sud’s insistence that she was creating high art, no one could stand. It sure was different, just not in a good way.
