Laurence Fishburne is not finished with primetime television, nor with investigating major crimes on primetime television.

The veteran movie star and former CSI actor has signed on for NBC's Hannibal. He will play FBI Behavioral Sciences Unit leader Jack Crawford on the upcoming drama, which is based on agent Will Graham (Hugh Dancy) and his burgeoning relationship with a certain psychologist (Mads Mikkelsen).

Fishburne's Crawford actually introduces Graham to Dr. Lecter.

The role has previously been played by Dennis Farina (Manhunter), Scott Glenn (The Silence of the Lambs) and Harvey Keitel (Red Dragon) in the big screen versions of Thomas Harris’ Hannibal Lecter novels.

Produced by Bryan Fuller, Hannibal will run for 13 episodes and premiere on NBC in early 2013.
