meah, Ian's hardly losing so badly. 42.8% to 57.2%? What poll are you looking at? And I have never ever seen anyone under appreciated Joseph, I would argue that he's as appreciated or more than Ian now. They rewrote the plot just to keep him! People don't over appreciate Ian, they just like him more. He's hardly the only one who gets recognition either. Nina did win the PCA tv drama actress this year. And so many great things are said about Candice. So people often don't like Paul's performance as much? Who cares, it's an opinion. It's not wrong. Ian, Nina, Joseph, Candice and I always see amazing things about Claire and Micheal. If you think it's just Ian (and not Joseph, seriously that's crazy) you're not really looking.

Of course this does not take away from Ian's charitable work. To compare the two is silly. We each have different things we're passionate about. From what I'm reading here, it simply sounds like Ian's charitable causes are more "global" and Jensen's are more "personal."

Since the subject of charitable works has come up...In my (relatively few) years as a Jensen fan, I've noticed that he seems to keep his charitable giving on the DL. That's not to say he is inactive. He's supported a number of causes, but the ones that seem closest to his heart are the ones that affect the people closest to his heart. Once Upon a Cure, for example, which funds research for Hunter Syndrome (not a joke ;) ), from which the child of a friend/crew member from his Dark Angel days suffers. He's also very supportive of the Down Syndrome Guild of Dallas. He's competed in charity competition, supporting Doctors Without Borders, and while I can't think of the specific instance, I'm not at all surprised to hear that he's also supported the charities his friend Jared supports. I personally like that Jensen uses his celebrity and resources quietly and unassumingly to support his chosen causes.
Of course this does not take away from Ian's charitable work. To compare the two is

@iansmolderhalder I've heard of Jensen Ackles.
Ok so that means your really not in tune with anything he has done.

I will just list a few things Jensen Ackles is active in.
American cancer society,Down Syndrome Guild of Dallas Buddy Walk,Doctors Without Borders,dogs life Rescue Charity,The American Red Cross. Young Life.
He even gave up his one year anniversary to spend it with his fans at the convention. Now that sounds like a very lovely person to me:)

I voted for Smolderhalder just because he does so many great things! He's such a wonderful actor and he's also got this wonderful foundation called ISF! I mean seriously can he get any better? (: I've heard of Jensen Ackles and know he's from Supernatural but I haven't heard him doing any good for the world like Ian is. I mean Ian cares about our world and is actually taking a stand and doing something about it that's what I love about him other than his acting and personality!

@Chrisy every thing coming out of a fad gets a boost but many still do not succeed. TVD was one of many vampire attempts to ride the wave of Twilight and one of the only successful ones. Like Once Upon a Time is playing of of the fairytale craze that's now going on but many other fairytale fictional works weren't successful. Ian Somerhalder did contribute to the popularity of TVD a lot because, besides his performance and abilities, he also added recognition. Lost had a huge fanbase and Boone was ranked very highly in popularity polls. A lot of fans say they found TVD through Ian. And you're right, Paul doesn't get any credit it feels like but I've always felt he was overshadowed by Nina, Ian, Candice, Joseph, ect. It's unfortunate because I think he does a good job.

I hate to say this @Madison but even I know TVD got a boast when it came out during the Twilight frenzy.
In you can't say the success only lies with Ian he has a big cast. Personally I believe Paul should get more credit but that's just how this fandom works.
