Gossip Girl Season 3: Share Your Favorite Moments!

by at . Comments

Oh Gossip Girl. Please don't leave us. We love you so hard.

In honor of repeats airing for the first time on the Style network, and the final season airing this fall on the CW, TV Fanatic is taking a look back at the series that's given us so many great memories over the years.

Last week, we reflected on Gossip Girl Season 2, the year that saw our Upper East Siders graduate. Today, we ask you to share your memories of the show's third season and all the craziness that transpired then.

Bluck Bickers

Gossip Girl Season 3 was a year that began with the gang in college, but that ended up being only a very minor part of the story. This is GG, after all. College degrees are afterthought ... an accessory if you will.

Many people most remember Season 3 for its climactic and gut-wrenching moment, when Blair and Chuck could have been together for good had she made it to the Empire State Building just a few moments earlier.

Alas, Dorota was in labor (and she didn't text for some reason) and he ended up shot.

It wasn't like Chair didn't go through rough patches prior to that though. Jack returned with a major storyline affecting their relationship (again) and the ongoing saga of Chuck's estranged mother was introduced.

Jenny the Virgin

Gossip Girl featured many big name guest stars in Season 3, notably Tyra Banks, Lady Gaga, Hilary Duff (Olivia), Joanna Garcia (Bree) and William Baldwin, who has gone on to be a recurring player on the series.

There was also the reintroduction of Scott, Lily and Rufus' biological son who wooed Vanessa and then dropped off the face of the earth, never to be seen again, and we first met sleazy drug dealer Damien Dalgaard.

Speaking of Damien, Season 3 focused hugely on Jenny Humphrey's downward spiral.

Lil J spent a good part of the season alienating herself from Eric, her former best friend, and chasing Nate, whose heart was set on Serena. The season ended with her stunning one-night stand with Chuck Bass.

That, combined with her drug-dealing habit, saw her exiled to Hudson, upstate.

Rumored 3Some Participants

Dan and Vanessa (we know, we know), toyed with the idea of being more than friends, and had a threesome at one point, while Serena had flings with Carter, Nate's married cousin Tripp, and Nate of course.

None of which ended particularly well. That's Serena (and GG) for you.

All in all, the 2009-10 campaign certainly had its ups and downs, but it was worth it. Mostly. We'll leave it up to you to pick apart what things you liked and what you might have changed in retrospect.

What's your top memory of Gossip Girl Season 3? Favorite episode? Favorite moment? Most heartbreaking moment? Biggest disappointment? We want to hear from you as we live its ups and downs.

Share it with us in the comment section below as we look back at the series we love and gear up for its swan song (see TV Fanatic's Gossip Girl spoilers for all the latest) beginning October 8!

cont. Nate and Bree was of no consecuence except at the end when Bree talked with Carter. 3x4 Dan of Fleurette: this wasn't a great episode but it had entertaining moments. The Twilight veiled references weren't that great in this and following episodes but it was funny to know Dan didn't know Olivia, specially the part where Nate witnessed their first encounter and could barely contain laughter (Nate looked good in that scene, unlike in some of the 3 previous episodes). K.C. first appeared and she was always a force onscreen, and it was funny when she first met Serena and believed she was like a star whisperer. Chuck and Blair first convo on the phone was good, specially how it began, and later when he came to visit her to her house, but the whole Jenny thing, should had felt like there was a brotherly vibe between C and J and yet there wasn't much of that, which made it icky and it now seems like a premonition of how things were going to turn out at the end. Jenny being Queen also felt subpar and I think it had to do with her extreme looks and the fact that at the end she sorta caved to the old system. Tyra Banks role here felt extreme but it provided for good Serena scenes. Lily finally showed up and looked good but her feud with Serena didn't felt ok. Dan and Olivia scenes were ok and Olivia and Vanessa scenes were good.

3x3 The Lost Boys: One of the best episodes in season 3. The beginning with Dan, Georgina and Blair and later Dan, Serena and Vanessa was good but in light of what we know now it has lost a bit of what it had. All Blair and Chuck scenes amazing, this is the CB relationship people wanted to see in season 3, but only this episode fully provided it. Dan and Serena convo in the street was good, later on when is Carter and Serena it was also good, in a way this is the episode that really made Serena and Carter a believable couple despite the trusth issues. The whole Scott thing wasn't that great, but it was good to see it was finally being revealed part of what was going on. Georgina blackmailing V and trying to hold onto Dan was entertaining. The auction in overall was good, specially the bidding that S won to C and B, she was badass there. Chuck looked great through the episode yet Blair could have used a better stylist specially in the auction. Nate and Bree was of no consecuence except at the end when Bree talked with Carter.

cont. Also, Blair going to Dan for help would have been great (because their scenes weren't really bad) if it hadn't been for all that has happened later, which has taken luster from them. It doesn't help for Dan's current image that in those days Georgina developed an up to the minute crush on him. Dan becomming a lider at the party could have been great if it hadn't left B all hurt. Meanwhile Serena teaming up with Carter without his own knowledge to take down Chuck also felt kinda forced and plain mean. The next day things look up with the SB scene, Serena accepting to date Carter, and Blair going to see Chuck and their amazing interaction.

cont. acted by the actors, everybody noticde it (luckily it hasn't happen again). The scene saving those last parts was learning that Serena was working with a photog and why she was doing all this. 3x2 The Freshmen: the opening scenes were good, specially Blair and Dorota and later Blair and Chuck (that's what we wanted to see). But Georgina being there never made it for me, although it did provided great lines such as the ones between B and G on their college room after Blair learns G is her roommate, the scene of Blair being left out by the other students, the B and G scene next day on the stree. Meanwhile, the S and C scenes started great with Serena showing up at Chuck's place for help and the whole convo about Brown and his business plans. But later on when S accidentally ruins things that whole thing goes south and very vengeful, specially on S part, even after a great breakfast convo with Dan. The next day things look up with the SB scene, Serena accepting to date Carter, and Blair going to see Chuck and their amazing interaction.

cont. place (if only for the way they were looking at each other) and later outside of the modeling agency. Also, the phone convo between C and N about the Ferrari (nice car). The polo match was uneven. Scott trying to talk with Rufus could have been more moving but at least it kinda was. Jenny enthusiasm for being there when talking with Eric was sweet. Nate confronting his grandfather would have been great had not involved Bree, but learing about her later was informative for the plot. Chuck and Blair looked bored, though, and the game thing wasn't improving things. Although Dan working with Blair to get rid of Carter had some potential and it was remminiscense of 1x18, it was cut short by Serena on the horse, which was awesome in itself. Great moment too her scene with Carter. But after that the episode kinda went down, and even the CB moments could have been better (except for the "I'm not Chuck Bass without you" which was awesome), but their role playing kiss was so acted by the actors, everybody notice it (luckily it hasn't happen again). The scene saving those last parts was learning that Serena was working with a photog and why she was doing all this.

That season was uneven but I will try my best to list the good moments in my opinion:
3x1 Reversals of Fortune: it wasnt' a bad episode but it wasn't a good one either. The first Chuck and Blair scene, some people got confused by it and indeed it could have been more clear what they were doing, but it has such great moments and lines, the moment Blair shows up, yells at the girl and after the girl leaves, how Chuck talks to Blair and her to him. The Hamptons part, I think it was sorta shocking to see the Humphreys like that, specially without Lily to justify it, even if Eric was around (his scenes with Jenny were good). Nate arriving with Bree was a good scene. Vanessa spending time with Scott, although maybe a little unrealistic, kinda made sense in a way. Serena arriving with part of her family in the lobby was amazing. The next day things are better with the breakfast scene, the SB, CN scenes, the Serena and Carter scenes (awesome) and the Chuck and Blair scenes first at her place (one of the sweetest ones ever if only for the way they look at each other) and later their honest convo outside the modeling agency. Also, the before that with the phone convo between Nate and Chuck was good, and the Ferrari too.

CHAIR and Jenny a little bit, but to me her acting out had no point and too little substance. The storyline never actually explains fully WHY she was such a coniving bitch, cmon. And sleeping with Chuck?! At least have a real reason for your downspiral instead of just being an angsty teen. Not enough weight to it.
And I loved carter and serena! Wtf happened to him, and why did he come back out of nowhere? Not enough story to fill that in and back it up. AND BLAIR YOU HAVE A PHONE, WHY THE HELL DID YOU NEVER TEXT CHUCK?!

one thing that i loved about this season is blair and chuck we acturally saw them as a couple i love when they have sences together and since they dated there were plenty it and their sex games were ofcourse hot but what jenny said to the 2 of them when they were at war was so true together they were unstoppable it showed that they could be powerful together if or hopefully when they get together OFCOURSE in every season i always love when the gang got together for a scheme one thing that i hope happens with the serise coming to an end is chuck and blair standing in front of BART BASS and showing that he is powerful but even more with blair since not only once but twice he has scared chuck away from blair the end of season one and five THEY SHOULD RUB IT IN HIS FACE

My favourite moment of the season was Georginas scheme about Scott, the hole blackmailing stuff and everything.. It was so old school GG! And favourite episode was Last tango, then paris, there was just so much unexpected drama in 40 minutes. Lamest thing on the season was the hole Serena-Trip thing.. I mean, what was so interesting for Serena about that guy?! And funniest moment: Dans and Vanessas very goofy-looking dance in the party before their threesome! :D ...and I still can't figure out why Serena was such a daddy's girl from the start even she spent her hole life in the "daddy waiting-room."

Season 3 was the beginning of the collapse of GG! Everything that was good in season 1 and 2 the production of series were destroy by the stupid season 3! The only bright spot in season 3's character of Jenny, and the best episode was that in which Jenny goes to Kotilion ball where Nate, her knight, saves her! Overall this is one of the worst season with 22 episodes, because in 18 episodes of 22 Serena and Dan do not have shared any scene! It's simply amazing what the filmmakers have done - they simply tried to erase Serena and Dan! I mean, Rufus and Serena had a more common scenes than Serena and Dan which is absolutely absurd!
