The segment of the LA Complex dealing with young black men meandering their way through the sordid world of the HipHop/Rap music industry is akind to real life. An industry where battles, haterd, jealousy, backstabing, and sometimes murder are commonplace is intriquing to say the least. Now add closeted/open SGL, self-haterd, attempted suicide, black gay culture, the Kal/Tariq love affair (my hooked on part) into the mix, well you can't get anymore COMPLEX than this.Episode 13 was extremly moving. Yes, I cried and I,m not ashamed.Althoug Kal didn't have the chance to tell his father who he really is, whose to say he didn't already know.Kal seems to be on the road to redemption. Learning to love himself and unabashedly declaring who he is. Those written words of his are both healing and freeing. Its like he's been waiting so long to exhale and/so finally, HE DID. Maybe seeing this gives other young gay men courage to do the same. Kal was "killing me softly" with his words and Andra Fuller with his performance. We got to have a season 3. What do you say?
I hope CW brings this series back!! Although at times it was too predictable, it was a sheer joy from episode to episode. I want to see more progress with Kaldrick, what a great performance may i add also!
I want to know if it really is, his sister? How can he 'suddenly' let go of her, maybe because he was so sick with her actions and how she came onto him, maybe... But there is room for a good storyline close here.
The ending, visual credits were superb. And i agree, a great line. I hope in series three (heres hoping) we can see this character ''come back to life'' with her film career, perhaps even cameos from stars?
The incest story line had me going "ewwww". Can't believe they went there. I hope Charlotte is really not Connor's sister -- I think that's where they were going. That was she was supposed to pretend to be his sister and she got carried away with her feelings and the Scienetics are afraid that he would find out that she was planted by them. Glad Beth seems to be gone. I found her annoying and the story part where they do it in the library with the camera rolling seemed pointless. I thought the footage was gong to accidentally end up in the screening of the movie. But no. Also pointless when she had the one night stand with the married man who thought she was 22 some episodes ago. I kept thinking that plot line would develop. I've watched all the episodes but for me it's slid from the A+ of the first season to a B for the second. Seems to have lost its rhythm and resorted to cliches, except for the Kal story. Hope it redeems itself if there is a third season.
I came to this show late this season...first I rolled my eyes at how cliche it is, but, having lived in LA for 17 years...it's cliche because it's true. I have witnessed every single one of those storylines...they are cliche because they are true. KEEP LA COMPLEX GOING!!!
Absolutely love this show and it's sad that it's so criminally underrated! It goes beyond what Entourage showed us! Shows us the proper nitty gritty of trying to make it in Hollywood. Andra Fuller is a star. I won't be surprised if he gets snapped up by a network show soon. Not that it helps that the show is on TheCW. I just wish it was on HBO, Starz, USA or even AMC.
