Brandon T. Jackson Cast as Lead of Beverly Hills Cop Remake

Major casting news tonight out of CBS:

Brandon T. Jackson has reportedly been cast as the lead in the wildly anticipated Beverly Hills Cop remake, which is expected to feature Eddie Murphy recurring as Axel Foley, who is now the police chief in charge of Jackson as his son.

The series will be produced by Shawn Ryan (The Shield, Terriers, Last Resort) and Aaron Foley is described as a blue collar Detroitt cop hoping to escape from his dad's very famous shadow.

If picked up beyond the pilot, it will likely bow in the fall of 2013.

Jackson, meanwhile, is best known for movie roles that include Tropic Thunder and Percy Jackson & the Olympians. His casting was first reported by Humor Mill.
