And about the footage from Diana, it is obvious that its a man. Or maybe a thin woman who's 6'0 tall and broad shoulders. Even at its bad angle you can tell that its a man! @ Marco you are right! He did say he had a plan! But gossip girl is unpredictable; that's why we have theories, right? What if his plan, his last chapter is about exposing Gossip girl?( Or it could be about him being Gossip Girl). I still feel like he has some knowledge on Gossip Girl. And he did seemed obsessed like Gatsby over Serena for like years before they went out. But ultimately he is not the only possibility, my fallbacks are Lily and Bart. Like @Zoran said, they probably hired people- or maybe a conjunction of people

And as to why would Dan do that? I'm still thinking to my theory that he wants to destroy them. Yes I know he wants to be as powerful as Chuck, but that is NOT at all a reason for him to not destroy everyone else. I really don't know why he wrote good about Chuck and not everyone else, but if there's anything that Chuck loves most-besides Blair- its an evil genius. What do you think would happen if Chuck finds out about Dan? I don't think he would be mad. Shocked yes, but most definitely not mad. Actually I think he would be awe-struck, thus helping Dan achieve his power.

And another point I want to get through to. If Dan can write about Rufus and Ivy and not have any sort of remorse, what makes you believe he has never done something like this before? Like why write about your Dad for the Spectator. I personally would never throw my parents under the bus especially since they are as kind a loving as Rufus. If Dan can write about his Dad like that, what make you think he can not do it again? And what makes you think he cant write about his half brother who he cares way less about then Rufus, and Jenny. Remember at the time where Jenny's Gossip Girl posting were at it height, she was going a bit crazy and Dan kept telling Rufus to do something about her actions because she is "getting out of control"

And I looked back at the previous postings and I've found your theories. I think as of right now Lily is most definitely a possibility to be Gossip Girl. And I really doubt Alison and Nate. For starters, Alison is not in the last episode. Now you do have some good points with Nate, but how do you explain him Iming and messaging Gossip Girl and getting so quick a response in Season 5? And he was practically glued to Lola the whole time when finding Gossip Girl.

wow @ Zoran you do have some points there! And its Liana btw,I really don't know how I got those typos. First and foremost let me start by telling you that I do not hate Dan! The person who I dislike the most is Serena! But I do not ultimately hate her. I just find her selfish and naive at times, and I feel like she can become a better friend to Blair( especially because Blair would never do some of the things that Serena did to her, even in spite.) And she seems to put herself in front of others a lot of time-like remember the time when her father came back to town? She immediately listened to her father who basically abandoned her at 4, and left Rufus feeling down.

I agree. Also whoever Gossip Girl is knew that Dan liked Serena from the beginning like 10/08/2005 type of beginning. And there were way too many hits out on his sister on Gossip Girl and on his half brother lol (him and serena break up again b/c of it). There is no way he's gossip girl if they make him GG then the show totally does not make sense.

Your answer does not make sense, because if you carefully watched episode 6x03, you would see that Dan says to Nate that he wants to become a powerful and he publishes the chapters of his friends and relatives! Dan wants to be as powerful as Chuck, because it is the only chapter written positively about Chuck, and that only makes sense! And another thing, since it is obvious that you hate Dan, for whom you cheer, maybe it's for Serena and Nate?

All you forget that in 2012 there are now smart phones, but then in 2007 there were no phones, such as today, so Dan was unable to obtain information from Melani91 and to resend it away and not to see Jenny and Rufus, who were with him! Third, Dan is part of the UES, as Serena introduced him, that said Dan to her when were got out his first book! Fourth, what was new Dan wrote now, that he did not do in the first book – he put real names and nothing more, everything else is pretty much the same! On the other hand, your question is in place - Why Dan is doing that? You think Dan wants to destroy Serena and the others, but this is not the answer to your question! @lina / liana, No, Dan is not GG, you are under the impression of episode 6x08 and is why you did come to that conclusion! It is true that in episode 5x22 Dan was in a taxi in front of the house where others had, but you can not see anywhere that Dan entered the house! As it can not tell exactly who is the person that takes Serena’s laptop, a camera that recording was under bad angle, the person is masked so that we do not know whether it is male or female! Second, it is not true that Dan first saw Serena when she returned to NYC! Serena first saw by Melani91 and immediately sent a message to GG! After that Dan sees Serena standing, and you hear the voice of GG that says - Dan sees that love of his life is back (Serena), only if she knew who he is? Simply Dan and Serena were in the same place at the same time! If Dan was GG, to whom was then Melani91 sent a message? So now it comes to my FINAL REASON as to why GG is Dan!! Well now at the end of this season Dan is writing a tell all book and releasing chapters every week. He does not seem ashamed to do it and to betray his friends and family. Why would you think he would do it? Well hes probably done with Gossip Girl and wants to end it by telling everyone's dirty secrets in a book!!! Theres a chapter in every episode and what if the last chapter is about him? about him being GG? And that since he's GG, hes is going to end it! And if Dan is GG(which obviously he is) its even more obvious that he became friends with Serena, Nate and Blair for the sole purpose of destroying them.

Yeah I know they show a girl taking a pic of Serena but the story came out too fast, It could've been Dan's writing with the girl's picture. Also in the pilot episode Dan happens to be in the right place at the right time. Also another clue is Dan's nickname "lonely boy" Dan clearly shows that he is in fact a lonely boy and even refrences it sometimes because of the way he cant fit into the world of the Upper East Side. Also, do you guys remember the time when Serena was Gossip Girl? Not many knew about the laptop besides those in Blairs house. And at that time Blair was dating Dan. Actually Dorota tells Dan about Serenas laptop situation which then lead to Gossip Girl Iming Serena that she knows its her.

Also, Gossip Girl can not be Nate because he was texting Gossip Girl the whole time. Season 5 episode 22 showed us a lot and Im thinking the writers put Bart resurrection in this episode to throw us off a little. Season 5 episode 22 only had 6 characters(other than bart and diana) in that party: Nate, Chuck, Blair ,Lola, Serena and Dan. Nate, Chuck and Blair are out of the picture and so is Lola because shes not in the last episode. And it sure cant be Serena. The person who take the laptop only had to be on person DAN!( remember dan followed chuck and blair to the party and didnt go in until some time). My guess is that Dan was waiting for the right moment.Next we have Nelly Yuki, obviously shes not Gossip Girl because shes simply not in the last episode(or 8 or 9 for that matter). Now lets get on to how Dan is gossip girl. For starters Dan was the first one to see Serena when she came home. Gossip Girl new of Serena's coming before her own mother. DAN IS GOSSIP GIRL!!! i have clues as to why he is and the other are not. First lets start off with Dorota,If you go onto Imdb, you will see that she is not even in the finale episode. The only people in the finale are: Serena, Blair, Dan, Nate, Jenny, Juliet, Eric, Rufus, Lily, Ivy and Chuck. So Dorota is out of the picture. Eric is next, he isn't Gossip Girl because at the beginning of season one he was in a facility, with was highly monitored and probably didnt have access to the internet. He was also away at college. Jenny also was away at college in the UK and if you go back to episode 22 it is clear that whoever gossip girl is, was at that EXCLUSIVE party( the episode where chuck finds his father and gossip girl gets his/hers laptop back). Okay so now we have Blair Nate and Chuck and back to Season 5 Episode 22 you see that all three of them are too busy to find what Diana is hiding. And according to the surveillance footage, you see Chuck and Blair together at ALL times. Also, G

@MichaeIBL, No, Cecily von Ziegesar is Serena van den Woodsen, this makes more sense than GG! Surnames are similar to them, one German and the other is Dutch! Also both of them are writers!
@Me, It is not Nelly Yuki, because for GG the first target was always Serena and not Blair! Blair and Nelly were rivals, not Serena and Nelly! When Serena and Dan became a couple at the beginning of season 1, GG did not increase attacks against Serena because for GG Serena has always been the first and major target! Now the question is why?

If you think about it anyone, anywhere could Gossip Girl. She gets tips from everyone and can set a timer for the blast to be uploaded when he/she is somewhere else to avoid being suspected. Even going as far as to post negatively about herself to avoid suspicion.

My guess is Eric. Gossip Girl never revealed Eric's suicide attempt or that Serena was spending time at the Ostroff Center. Gossip Girl would've revealed both if she had the chance and she/he(shim, lol) never did. Why is that. Because Gossip Girl is Eric or maybe it is Lily she didn't want anyone to know and Gossip Girl never told anyone. The mind boggles, lol!!!

I think Nelly was brought back to throw us off. It's too obvious. She's most likely a Red Herring. As is Juliet, then again of all the returning guest stars she's the only one I can't figure out. Why is she back, what brings her back, is she Nate's endgame, part of a scheme, or is she Gossip Girl. Her being recruited as part of a scheme makes the most sense.
It's so obviously Nelly Yuki. GG started her blog (and pouncing on Blair) when she turned 13. At that time Blair was probably in full force as Queen B or at least one of S's surrogates. She treated Nelly so badly. Nelly was unable to fight frontally but she was at least able to do it covertly as GG, getting tips from other people and publishing them. It's actually a brilliant way for an underling like her to fight back.
Also it is clear Nelly has always had a thing for Dan. When S started dating Dan I think GG was pretty ruthless with her. When Blair, her nemesis did it, she went ballistic.
Clearly GG has a writing/publishing background which is exactly Nelly's day job.
Plus why would the writers back her back after so long if they weren't planning to reveal Nelly as GG?

@neddi^^, I'm not saying that Lily is an evil person, she certainly is not! Lily is just a bad mother, but she does not want to hurt Serena! If Lily is GG then it became that because she wanted to ease the way for their children in society (because Lily came from California to NYC), and nothing more! It is interesting that GG stopped publishing gossip when Chuck and Blair had an accident! Lily was very shocked because she remembered Bart (fake) death, but the fact remains that the GG stopped working until took over Georgina! No, Eleanor certainly is not!
