Elena should have known something will go terribly wrong when Damon said two things: that he's happy and that they should have one secret selfish day to themselves. Because a) Damon has never been happy in his life and b) when all you want is one day, you can bet it's gonna get ruined.
I was so prepared for a major depression after this episode that I was surprised it turned out to be not so bad. Mostly due to what the (of course as always) black witch said about vampires being sired only if they had real human feelings before the transition. The look on Stefan's face when she said it - priceless. Sorry to burst your bubble, Stef.
Special shoutout to Tyler for cheering Elena up with the whole acting vs feeling thing. Way to go, Ty.

That Delena scene at the beginning...Hot!! Even if it wasn't Delena, it still was insanely hot....anyways, I hate how they've spent most of the four seasons all being about Stelena, and now that its finally damons turn, they just have to keep ruining it or making it a problem between elena and him...I gotta say, I missed Klaus in this ep, and I was happy to see Lexie return.

Well, I guess that's a wolf thing because they live in packs and every pack needs a leader. Obviously werewolves WANT to be led my someone.

That was indeed beyond annoying. Why the hell do the writers do that? I hope they don't keep it up that way.
Actually, last week and this episode I was wondering if Caroline is so keen on judging Elena because she herself started to realise she's falling for Klaus? Some weird kind of yelling out how bad Damon (Klaus) and how good Stefan (Tyler) is maybe?
I might be thinking too simply considering Mystic Falls is a complicated little place, but can't Damon just order her to make her own decisions?
I was thinking the same thing! I don't see any real problems here... Damon will never do anything to hurt Elena, she totally trusts him. So?
This was the first episode in a VERY long time I liked Elena. Her dancing, her smiling, her flirting, standing up to save Caroline - great!

Stefan offered human Elena safety and security, unquestioning love and adoration. That's great - but vampire Elena is less in need of a saviour and more in need of an equal and a lover. That's what Damon offers. She is stronger and faster etc etc now and less in need of protection. I just wish they'd have let Damon and Elena (I refuse this horrible combined names fad) stay together. It does NOT have to be about Stefan.

I don't understand how anyone, esoecially Elena, can expect Caroline to support a Damon-Elena relationship given everything that Damon did to Caroline. Her whining, I think, was appropriate. Why would she be happy? Damon systematically abused Caroline mentally, emotionally, and physically while simultaneously stripping her of her autonomy as a human being. Elena asking Caroline to support her relationship with the man who once regularly abused her is nothing short of insensitive. I think Caroline, more than almost anyone, has right to hate Damon.

To those of you who are wondering why elena's feelings for Stefan aren't magnified have you guys ever stopped to think that maybe her feelings for him towards the end of season 3 just weren't that great to begin with? Being a vampire probably made her more confident about the decisions she couldn't as a human, and that's why she's no longer with Stefan. Then again, just a possibility.

The thing is…Caroline is justified in her opinion.
It doesn’t have to disrupt Delena. AT ALL. If there had been just one line about Caroline remembering how Damon treated her. The episode could have ended the exact same way with Caroline agreeing to keep her opinions to herself and Elena wanting to be with Damon, I just wish they had included why Caroline is so anti-Damon instead of making her sound so irrational. Because being compelled, raped and fed on is a really good reason to not like a guy and not want him sleeping with your best friend.
Maybe it’s the rewatch of early season 1 that I’m doing but when Elena called out Caroline on “jumping into bed” with Damon, I just found that really insensitive. Elena, do you not remember her breaking down, sobbing in your arms, covered in bites and bruises, saying that she’s fine but obviously knowing she wasn’t? God knows Caroline is rash and judgmental…but have you forgotten where she’s coming from?

If you want a tv show catered to your every whim and idea then write one yourself. It is their job to write a compelling storyline. Let it entertain you. Stop all the whining and just enjoy the story!
Also, as soon as I saw Madeline Zima I knew her character was going to be crazy. She oozes that crazy lady vibe.

I think Mr sanctimonious Ripper of Monterey needs to dial back the judgement level for once and should take a real good look at himself. I get why Caroline doesn like Damon but seriously to say that being a ripper is better than being a man slut is taking it a little too far.

I think people aren't understanding that at no point did they say "this happens every single time a human loves a vampire before being turned". They said its very uncommon but this is how it is when it does happen… so I don't think the writers are being sloppy. People just aren't listening.
