A vampire becomes sired because they already have true feelings for the vampire who turned them, so why is it not more common for vampires to be sired to a vampire? How come Damon and Stefan wasn't sired by Katherine? These are all very great questions. Can we all say that this is a show and like all shows that has ever be written, vampire diaries has isn't goofs as well. Writers don't exactly think things through, however I am willing to buy into their explanation of it all, if it supports my own personal desires.

This still doesn't explain how her love for Damon increased while her love in Stefan didn't. I don't know why I am trying to find logic, the writers forget shit they write all the time.

Great episode. I was kinda glad to here that the sire bond doesn't effect the emotions because it just proves Elena wants to be with Damon and she loves him because it wasnt like he was asking her to kiss him and to sleep with him she did that all on her own. I hope he sets her free but there still together and if that can't happen then I hope he doesn't set her free. They belong together he's the only one who's not trying to change her and he's the only one who really accepts her as she is. Can't wait for the mid season finale it looks awsome.

I think that Damon has to simply say 'i want you to follow your heart and make decisions for yourself'.. surely that would work right?
If not, then i think the best thing is to leave Damon and Elena together for now, find the cure, turn Elena back into her human self and then she can make a completely rational decision without all of this 'sire bonding' nonsense and choose the brother she truly wants to be with!! (hopefully that would be Damon...)

I love Damon's character! not because of his looks (it doesn't hurt) but because of his amazing personality. In the selfishness he openly professes and he is known for, he is the epitamy of selflessness when it comes to his love first for Katherine, and now Elena. He appears strong but has a vulnerability to him which surfaces in every single episode. He does wrong many a times and hates himself for it, the constant struggle within between good and evil in Damon's character represents man himself since the beginning of times. Cain and Abel, combined, you have Damon. For this reason alone, and the multiplicity of his character, he is so much more interesting to watch in his evolution and involvement with Elena. I love this phase of the story. Frankly Stefan is evolving into a righteous bore. And don't get me started with Caroline. She needs a new focus. Writers, please get her to fall for Klaus! That would be such an interesting twist. Klaus-Caroline sire....how's that for a plot?

I love Caroline but I couldn't stand her in tonight's episode. I get that she hates Damon, and I'm a Stefan fan myself, but she just got too whiny. It was like season 1 Caroline all over again.
I wish the show would just stop with the love triangle stuff now. I know it's a popular selling point but they are dragging it on for way too long since they're essentially restarting the triangle by making Damon leave Elena. I love TVD but it's getting a bit tedious since it's the same thing over and over again.

First off there is difference Caroline does not seem to breaking her resolve about Klaus being evil, Elena did once Damon found out about Katherine not being in the tomb. We are also know Elena is very judgmental about who her friends get involve with or we forgetting how she reamed Jeremy last season for being friends with Tyler and called Tyler everything in the book that applies more to her two puppies than Tyler. Also Elena dating someone who has yet to apologize to Caroline for how he treated her, something Elena confronted Damon on, only to later laugh about it. And I find it ridiculous that people expect Caroline not to take issue with this and why Elena should not be called out on her behavior. As for Damon making her happy, unlike SE, DE has not had any extraneous circumstances disrupting their happy times (Damon was one of those circumstances with his dumb antics and his picking up cellphones and shit and I really hope Stefan effing repays him) like seriously nothing effing h

Words cannot describe how much I adored this episode. But, for the love of all that is holy, can we please get ONE Damon/Elena sex scene that isn't accompanied by Caroline's yammering. I love the girl but I would love her even more if she would shut her mouth.

I don't think they're saying its always going to happen if you love a vampire, just that it can. I thought the episode was great! Damon and Elena really do have this amazing chemistry. We really got to see a lot of that tonight. I really hope we can see how this relationship plays out and give them a real chance now that we know the sire bond means nothing in regards to her feelings for him. Hopefully she helps him realize that! I can't wait to see what happens next week. Looks like it's going to be a great winter finale!

The only thing I don't get is if all you have to do is love the person who turns you before you're turned, then wouldn't the sire bond be relatively common amongst vampires?? I feel like a big reason for humans to be turned (besides boredom on the vampire's part) is because they're in love with a vampire who wants to spend eternity with them...

Great episode.
