"People who want Zoe and Wade together are the same type who marry people that are not a good fit and then can't understand why they ended up divorced."

Sorry hate to break it to you. I love ZW, and I've been married for 14 1/2 years.

Relationships like ZG could also end in divorce. The kind where the couple is bored with each other and then strays outside the marriage when there is excitement to be had elsewhere. Sorry George emotionally cheated with Zoe so that could very easily happen there. No one knows what makes a marriage work except for the 2 people involved.

Aside from real life this is TV. I want more than a couple who agrees on everything and has everything in common to entertain me. The purpose of a show is entertainment.

"People who want Zoe and Wade together are the same type who marry people that are not a good fit and then can't understand why they ended up divorced"

So, just a quick heads up to everybody who supports the idea of Zade... fun relationships where opposites attract lead to divorce. You best stop wanting these two together right now because we're all doomed to a life full of divorce papers!! ...oh my god. :D

Wade and Zoe have NOTHING in common! They are all wrong for each other. She belongs with someone who is on her lever in more areas than just physical chemistry. This network has a history of having characters interested in each other but never ultimately getting together by the end of the series. They may just keep dangling a carrot in front of the viewers who want Zoe and George together, and then never actually have them become a couple. They did this with Gilmore Girls and Dawson's Creek. If they don't, I won't be watching the show anymore. Zoe and George make a GREAT couple! If they were real people, they would have a better chance at a lasting relationship that Zoe and Wade! Lemon/Tansy and George are horrible together. Lemon is a nut case. People who want Zoe and Wade together are the same type who marry people that are not a good fit and then can't understand why they ended up divorced. Wade was known as the town womanizer. Really? As if Zoe has to settle for that?

I keep reading that people think Wade's cheating is OOC. I really don't think it is. I have always been better friends with guys than girls, and I have had a lot of guy friends with far better morals than Wade tell me they cheated on a woman they truly loved. And a whole lot more who flirted up to the point of no return before they recognized what they were throwing away if they got caught and stopped before doing the ultimate deed. Men are definitely wired differently, and most are a lot more capable of rationalizing cheating. Who knows what makes people cheat? But it usually has very little to do with anyone other the individual doing the cheating. This would be totally in line with Wade's character, since the cheating had nothing to do with Claudette or Zoe, and everything to do with Wade's low-self esteem. I'm really hopeful Wade can turn this ship around, even if he doesn't end up with Zoe.

(continued…) For this reason, we were also not heavily invested in Lemon and George. Yes, they were a cute couple we enjoyed watching at times, but we never saw the intense chemistry that the characters Zoe and Wade demonstrated. So, for Wade to crave Zoe like he did, and crave wanting to be a better guy to then just switch and think, yeah no, cheating is now something I’m capable of and to a woman I adore; yes, majority of the fans have definitely been left blind sighted, upset about the future of the show, and those behind the scenes capable of careless decisions.

(continued...) It's poor writing that has dismissed and tainted a good quality character due to the writer’s limited imagination and storyline ability.

Furthermore, please stop with the Lemon versus Wade cheating similarities in order to justify how okay this storyline is because again; the poor writing in this show has always left viewers unsure about what the setup even was with Lemon and George when he went to New York. At one point early on it was stated he asked Lemon to go to New York and she had said no, so they broke things off. Then the next minute we're being told they were actually in a long distance relationship whilst Lemon was cheating with Lavon. Who friggin knows… I think we all tried to make sense of it as best we could and finished with “well, they must’ve been together”. I’d say the storyline was mistakenly altered along the way due to an exec producer forgetting the minor details in her own show. For this reason, we were also not heavily invested i

Lol, Coori. I'm pretty sure we're just clinging onto the hope that this show will find its way back. It's just he stated something like "baby, please forgive me, I'll do anything to make it up to you" and somebody would only show that kind or remorse, guilt, etc. if they were guilty. I feel like this show is officially a sinking ship (because the ship has been sunk - get it! I'll stop now.) :D

But seriously, I love those handful of viewers and reviews that state "this isn't out of character for Wade" ... "they had to break up at some point". No. His character was never explained to be a cheater but instead, a guy that enjoyed being single and any storyline around Tansy (his one serious relationship with another woman) never hinted toward cheating because it's a character trait many would not be able to support. We all knew the writers would eventually write in a break-up but cheating is a drastic option. It's poor writing that has dismissed and tainted a good quality character due t

I don't think Wade's character cheated on Zoe's character, I think he is in love with her but he doesn't have enough faith in himself to believe that he is enough to make her happy, to support her, and whatever else comes with serious relationships. I think he used cheating on her as a diversion to get out of the relationship without outright dumping her; and later in the season or next season (if the show is renewed) we will find out that he only did this because he loved her and they'll have some big dramatic reunion between the two characters.

I said I would be pissed off if they broke up Zoe and Wade and I would be even more pissed if they had him cheat and well they did just that! I am about at my wits end with this show.

  10. Nora

I know they were going to break up at some point because it's a TV show and they need drama but did they really need to make Wade a cheater? This just ruined all chances of Zoe and Wade getting back together.

I don't know if i want to watch this anymore.

I dunno I didn't find it THAT bad. I mean I seriously love wade but it wasn't super (maybe a little but not super) OOC. I don't know if it was just because Wilson Bethel is amazing and I had no choice but to believe everything. But I didn't find it totally out of the blue or whatever. What I love most about Wade is how insecure he is and how I really feel that. The way it all went down actually made some sense to me. Anyway I'm pretty sure they're going to get back together in some super sweet and slow way that will make them both grow as people. If not then I totally have to take back everything I just said about not finding it that bad.

Seriously, people! This wasn't out of character at all! It's like Mg said, people don't change that quickly, without any setbacks. Especially with the low self-esteem issues that Wade has been dealing with his whole life. I hope that the writers will continue with Wade's journey to a more mature character, with some respect for himself. After that happens, and he can prove this to Zoe, she might be able to forgive him (I hope). Let's hope that this show will get the episodes to show this.

(sorry for the bad english, I'm from the Netherlands)

To me. It sounds like they killed their show. I know I have tuned out. Wade CHEATING! Ummm, No Thank You.

And I hate to tell U writers but it WON'T make me ever want Zoe with George. It only made me tune out!

@RIP Zade...totally agree with you. It is GG all over again. Granted Chair got together and I'm very happy they did but it took 6 freaking seasons for it to happen. They were together in for the majority of season 3. I just went back to look at the GG episode list and their split started to happen on 3.17 but they split for good on 3.18 until season 6. The Zade split happened on 2.18. Hmm...surely that's a coincidence. Josh and Stephanie...you kind of screwed it up with GG. You did when you killed Marissa off on the OC. That last season of the OC really shouldn't have happened. If you want a season 3 of Hart of Dixie, I'd fix this quickly.

  15. Mg

This was a really great episode. So sad but inevitable. I don't know why people seem surprised because I saw that coming a mile away. Wade cared about Zoe but a person can't change who they are, at least not this fast and not for another person. Wade always had a complex about being a failure and his way of dealing with it was reverse snobbery instead of trying to change himself. Zoe deserves so much better. I didn't want her to be with George at the end of season 1 but now I don't want her to even consider forgiving Wade.
Honestly now I can't wait to see Zoe and George find their way to each other. They are so perfect for each other. I really hope they are not like GG because there are some huge deal breakers in a relationship and being sold for a hotel or getting cheated on are some of the big once.

this just feels like GG to me. the writers didnt want Chair to be just like they don't want Zade.... this is annoying as a fan who switches on every week just to watch a light hearted drama with a touch of comedy. now zade can never be and zoe is going to go after george *yawn* who seems very happy with tanzy tbh.

on a happier note, glad lemon got over it, her and lavon were never going to work. they had the chance before and never took it. their friendship is more than the bs these silly writers want to throw at them. i smell savage/schwatz all over this joint.....

No offense, I wonder if the writers even read this. But I think I will boycott this show until they're back. I really can't stand Zoe/George, I mean when they went to New Orleans and danced and kissed, it was SO forced. Am I the only viewer who saw they had no chemistry and they have TOO much in common. Haven't they heard that opposites attract. I dated someone just like me and it was BORING! Zoe and George are boooooring and I refuse to watch it. I hope it does get cancelled before they stick those two together. I would rather the show be canceled then see Zoe with George because the writers are in love with that idea. And judging by the responses on this site, the writers are forcing themselves into an early retirement/job loss.

I'm serious.. I think I will skip this show..

  18. May

I have been watching all the eps (either online or live but it's hard to get back by 8PM EST). All I know is that I don't really want to watch this episode.

If Wade truly is in love with Zoe, why the hell did he cheat on her? It just makes absolutely no sense. And you know this is kinda unforgiveable for them to get past.. No offense but cheating I don't think ever happened between Rachel and Ross on Friends.. I don't think.

As for the seasons that this series gets, the only reason it gets renewed is that I see Carrie Diaries has totally tanked (1.00 mil viewers, that's BAD) and I couldn't get through 10 minutes of Cult w/o turning it off. I think at the most it gets 4 seasons max so it can go into syndication... I totally thought it could go the route of Big Bang Theory (with Penny and Leonard the end game, but bumps along the way) but they never cheated on each other... It just really, really seems like the writers want Zoe and George to be together, but I really see NO chemist

  19. $eema

Aha thanks Elle, I also totally agree with you that now viewers will be wary of Wade because cheating is basically unforgivable. (also the game of thrones comparison is so true!)

  20. MM

@Elle542 As someone on Twitter right said, "this felt like a writer's choice, not a character's choice". I wholeheartedly agree with that. The Wade they wrote this season and the Wade of the last 2 episodes, are not the same.

(continued) The writers had gold there with Zoe and Wade but now, it's all just a mess and has left viewers unsure about those who call the shots behind the scenes.

  22. Elle542
    Rank: Guest Star

Just to add, the honest and strange truth is - I just don't know if all the viewers could get past this extreme character choice (myself included). Yes, it's a TV show but we want to cheer on the people we relate to, or just like. In reality, not all viewers themselves would be swayed to stay, return, or support a guy that cheated on her, or her friend, or relative because that trust in their character is gone. So even the best TV writing can't shake that niggling feeling some viewers will now have.

There's also the issue with the writers and trusting that they have your most loved characters in their care. This isn't Game of Thrones where one character you adore can be killed off but never mind because three others have just stolen the limelight with their own storyline. Hart of Dixie is a small cast, a light-hearted show, with simplified storylines. The writers had gold there with Zoe and Wade but now, it's all just a mess and has left viewers unsure about those who call the shot

I just feel like your comment is spot on Seema. "I just read the comments on another site that mention (and I think ppl might have mentioned this here already too) how Tansy told Zoe in season 1 that it would be "her loss" if she didn't get with Wade. Why would she have come back to bluebell and built up Wade like that if he was really a cheater all along? If she knew about his "car battery" excuse from when they were together, then the season 1 thing didn't make sense. Wade did always seem like while he had vices, he was a man with integrity who rly cared about people in his life (his father, etc.) I'm now officially on the bandwagon of "these writers are terrible" because continuity and character growth seem to be real problems for them to illustrate." !!!!! Whole heartedly agree.

  24. hodfan

I disagree with the article, I thought Wade cheating was totally in character. He was wild before he started dating Zoe, and he has tried to be a better person for her, but he backslid, which is not terribly surprising.
