Super Bowl Ratings: The Most-Watched Game Ever?

This just in: a lot of people tuned in to watch the Ravens defeats the 49ers last night.

According to preliminary Nielson ratings, CBS now owns the most-viewed telecast in football history, as an average overnight household rating/share of 48.1/71 is a one percent improvement over last year's Super Bowl, which totaled 111.3 million viewers in the end - the most-ever for a TV program.

As you might expect, the top market for the contest was in Baltimore, where nearly 60 percent of all televisions were focused on Ray Lewis' last ride, while host city New Orleans checked in at number-two.

I agree, most of the ads were meh. There were a few standouts: Budweiser Clydesdales, Farmer-Dodge Ram. Then second tier: Got Milk, VW, Oreo, Audi (and probably some I've forgotten which doesn't speak well for them, I suppose). Then meh and a lot of ones I'd rather watch paint dry than ever ever ever contaminate my retinas with again.


It's probably the economy (or just me??), but the ads were nothing special this year. I don't even think there were so very many new ones.
