True Detective is coming to HBO.

The wildly anticipated drama will premiere in 2014 and star good friends Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson.

Both will play members of law enforcement whose lives collide and then continue to intersect over the course of a 17-year hunt for a serial killer in Louisiana.

The initial murder takes place in 1995 and the series goes back and forth from that time... to the years in between... to testimony in 2012 from the detectives involved in this re-opened case. It's an ambitious drama and the network has given fans their first quick look at it below.
