Dennis Farina, Veteran Star of Law & Order, Dies at 69

Sad news out of the television world today:

Dennis Farina, a veteran actor of the big and small screen, has passed away at the age of 69.

Farina was known for such movies as Midnight Run and Get Shorty.

But he also anchored Law & Order from 2004-2006 as Detective Joe Fontana. Other TV roles have included stints on Luck and as Nick Miller's con artist of a father on New Girl Season 2.

Details surrounding Farina's death remain unclear at this time, but his publicist confirmed the news to The Associated Press.

The 69-year old leaves behind three adult children and six grandchildren. We send our thoughts and prayers to his loved ones.

UPDATE: Farina's rep now confirms that the star died of a blood clot in his long and was at home in Arizona when it occurred.
