Philip Seymour Hoffman is the latest movie star to make a move into television.
The Oscar winner will star in and produce Showtime's Trending Down, portraying Thom Payne on the dark comedy.
The character is describe as an ad executive whose life takes a hit when his agency is taken over. The series is outlined as a “blistering attack on our youth-obsessed culture and a darkly comic examination of what it means to matter. Or matter not.”
Hoffman earned an Academy Award for his work in Capote and will next be seen in November's The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.
More on Trending Down is expected to be announced during Showtime's panel discussion next week at the Television Critics Association’s Summer press tour in Beverly Hills.
