The Newsroom: Renewed for Season 3?

by at . Comments

This just in: The Newsroom has been renewed for Season 3.

At least according to its lead cast member.

While HBO is yet to confirm the pick-up, Jeff Daniels made it clear in a Tweet last night, writing: “It’s official. #Newsroom coming back for a Season 3."

Considering The Newsroom Season 2 is based around a falsely reported major story, it would be ironic if Daniels was incorrect, huh?

But that seems unlikely. At the Television Critics Association press tour this summer, HBO president Michael Lombardo said he would be "shocked" if the series was not renewed for a third season, as its ratings continue to climb.

The first of a two-part Season 2 finale airs this Sunday at 10/9c.
