The Fosters: Renewed for Season 2!

ABC Family announced today that The Fosters will return in January 2014 with new episodes.

The drama, which centers around a multi-ethnic family of foster and biological kids being raised by two mothers, ranked at the number-one new cable series of the summer among 12-34-year olds this year and set a series high in overall viewers across a number of demographics for the Season 1 finale.

“The Fosters has demonstrated its ability to build an audience, and the creative team’s compelling storytelling assures us that there will be more growth in upcoming seasons,” said Kate Juergens, Chief Creative Officer and Executive Vice President, Programming, ABC Family. “The show’s dynamic cast and groundbreaking storylines resonate with our core viewers and leave them wanting more.”

The Fosters Season 2 will likely consist of 13 episodes.
