by at . Comments

John Wesley Shipp is steering himself back to Central City.

The actor, who portrayed Barry Allen the short-lived CBS series The Flash, will guest star on the upcoming Flash pilot on The CW... and subsequently guest star if the network places a series order.

Details on his role are unknown at this time.

John Wesley Shipp as The Flash

Grant Gustin will reprise the role he introduced in a pair of early Arrow Season 2 episodes for the pilot, with other confirmed cast members including:

  • Candice Patton (as Allen’s best friend, Iris West)
  • Jesse L. Martin (as Iris' father/Central City Detective West)
  • Carlos Valdes (as engineering guru Cisco Roman)
  • Daniele Panabaker (as bioengineering expert Caitlin Snow)
  • Rick Cosnett (as Detective Eddie Thawne)
  • Tom Cavanagh (as S.T.A.R. Labs scientist Harrison Wells)

The Flash is one of several spinoffs in the works, so compare projects now and decide on the one that looks most promising:

How I Met Your Mother
How I Met Your Dad is coming to CBS. Will it live up to the high bar set by How I Met Your Mother?

The Flash Quotes

Cisco: That's pretty ironic. The guy specialized in cloning and now he can make Xeroxes of himself.
Harrison: If he was experimenting on himself when he was exposed to the dark matter wave released by the particle accelerator explosion...
Cisco: Meet Captain Clone! Don't worry, I'll come up with something cooler.

Joe: You were wrong.
Barry: I have been wrong a lot this week. You're gonna have to be more specific.
Joe: You said that one of the things driving you to run around out there was that you couldn't help your dad. You can help him. We can. We're gonna figure out who or what killed your mother that night and then we're gonna get your father out of prison. Together.
Barry: Joe, what I said about you not being my father...
Joe: Barry, I know. I know I'm not your father.
Barry: You're right. You're not. You're just the man who kept me fed and in clothes, who sat on my bed at night until I fell asleep because I was afraid of the dark. You helped me with my homework, you taught me how to drive and shave and you dropped me off at college. It sounds a lot like a dad to me.
