Sid Caesar Dies; Television Legend Was 91

at .

Sid Caesar, a television legend who introduced such talents as Carl Reiner and Mel Brooks to the world, has passed away.

He was 91 years old.

The comedic icon starred on "Your Show of Shows" and "Caesar's Hour," perfecting the art of sketches over vaudeville and ushering in a new broadcast era.

He later appeared in movies such It’s a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World; Silent Movie; and Grease.

Larry King broke this sad news over Twitter this afternoon, writing:

Sorry to learn about the passing of Sid Caesar-a dear friend, a comic genius & an American classic- there will never be another one like him.

In 2006, Billy Crystal presented Caesar with the Pioneer Award at the 4th Annual TV Land Awards. We send our condolences to his loved ones.
