How to Get Away with Murder Season 1 Episode 10 Review: Hello Raskolnikov

Welcome back, folks!

It was a long, long break but we were finally blessed with How to Get Away with Murder Season 1 Episode 10 and it may not have been the most jaw-dropping episode, but it did set things up for the rest of the season.

After How To Get Away With Murder Season 1 Episode 9, there were a million questions to be asked and we got plenty of answers tonight. Plus, we got a little more hot Nate, the odd Connor and Michaela team up and the emergence of Laurel as a total badass. Who would have thought?

We didn't have to wait long to see how things really went down for Annalise the night of Sam's murder. I had a strong feeling that the Bonnie call was a set up, as was the voicemail to Sam and the rendezvous with hot Nate. And my suspicions were proven correct!

It also turns out everything Wes did that night was part of Annalise's plan.

You listen to me closely and do exactly as I tell you . Remove the body. He can not stay here. Your DNA is under his nails, on his skin. So the only way to get rid of it is to burn the body. Then you need to get rid of the remains.

Annalise [to Wes]

That really makes you look at all the flash forwards differently, doesn't it? All along we were wondering what Wes was up to and it turns out Annalise was pulling the strings the whole time. Brilliant!

It looked like Wes was going to buckle under the pressure at first, but after a chat with Annalise he really calmed himself down. It was interesting to see how calm and unfazed some people were as opposed to others.

No matter what the circumstances, a man is dead and Rebecca was seriously acting like it was just any old day. Laurel was also surprisingly unaffected for the most part. Now I've ripped on Laurel in the past, but I have to admit I really enjoyed her tonight. She was stone cold and clever and I gained a lot of respect for her.

On the other hand, Connor and Michaela were unraveling at the seams, which wasn't all that surprising. If I had to guess which two would crack first, I would have picked them. They didn't disappoint either, as they figured it was in their best interest to throw everyone else under the bus.

What got me is that they still wanted to confess after it was clear that Sam murdered Lila. Oh yeah, let's back up and delve into that little piece of information.

Annalise told the cops that Sam ran away because she threatened him. So her new plan was to pin Lila's murder on Sam, so there would be a plausible reason for his disappearance. I think we all kind of figured Sam had something to do with Lila's murder, but was I the only one who found it a little too convenient how everything fell into place?

Lila's baby being his I can believe, but the computer tracking him to the sorority house and the video of the two of the them at the abortion clinic was like overload. I kept waiting for something to not go in their favor, but everything just kept going right. Maybe I'm just being paranoid or I watch too much television, but I feel like this isn't the end of the Lila Stangard murder case.

Now, like I said earlier, I found it odd that Connor and Michaela were still so keen on turning themselves in after it became clear that Sam was the prime suspect in Lila's murder. It would make perfect sense for him to disappear into thin air and the kids would be fine. Luckily, badass Laurel (seriously, she was so cool tonight) got to Wes, who went to Annalise and stopped them from talking.

Let me help you. Let me help you. Because if you do, I promise you will get away with this.

Annalise

I thought it might take a bit longer for everyone to be in on Annalise's involvement, but no; it happened right away. With Annalise telling Frank, as well, it looks like the only people who don't know Sam is dead meat are Bonnie, Asher and hot Nate.

Hot Nate looked awfully smitten with Annalise tonight. It got me thinking; what if he helped with making sure Sam went down for the murder? Is it possible or am I grasping at straws here?

I'd be remiss to talk about this episode and not mention how utterly flawless Viola Davis is. Seriously though, is there anything she can't do? Her face when she walked out of the women's room as those two ladies were trashing her was just perfection. As were her scenes with Wes and later Connor. She can play a tough as nails, no nonsense woman in one scene and then flip around and play the vulnerable mom-like figure the next. It's such a pleasure to watch.

Next week will see the introduction of Sam's sister and, judging by the look on Annalise's face, she will not be an ally.

Alright guys, you suffered through weeks of repeats and I have to know if it was worth the wait. Were you satisfied with this episode? Were you surprised Connor and Michaela wanted to confess? Are you convinced Sam really killed Lila? Will Bonnie and Asher ever be let in on the secret?

I can't wait to discuss all this and more with you in the comments! Always remember, you can watch How to Get Away with Murder online anytime via TV Fanatic.

Wes: Professor Keating---
Annalise: No, listen, what you did tonight had to be done. He killed that girl and for that he deserved to die. Trust me. I got you into this and it's my job to get you out of it. Now go and do what you've been told.
