TV Ratings Report: Empire Rises AGAIN
Matt Richenthal at .For the eighth week in a row, Fox is singing a very happy tune today, as ratings for Empire Season 1 Episode 8 once again built on numbers from the previous week's installment.
This time around, the smash hot drew 13.8 million viewers and scored a 5.3 among 18-49-year olds, marking the best rating within this key demographic since a September 2010 episode of Grey’s Anatomy.
Elsewhere on Fox, American Idol's first performance live show fell 5 percent from last Wednesday's outing.
And elsewhere around the dial...
- Survivor launched Season 30 with 9.9 million viewers, making this its most watched premiere since fall 2012. The Amazing Race also returned on a special night to 6.1 million households, about even with last year’s opener.
- The Mysteries of Laura reunited Will & Grace co-stars and garnered 7.6 million viewers, along with a 1.4 rating, soaring 30 and 27 percent respectively; while Law & Order: SVU inched up a bit in total viewers, but Chicago PD (7.3 million/1.5) slipped two tenths.
- The Goldbergs and Modern Family each increased three tenths among young adults on ABC; while black-ish and Nashville each ticked up a single tenth and The Middle decreased by two tenths.
- Arrow Season 3 Episode 15 (2.9 million/1.0) slipped two tenths, while The 100 Season 2 Episode 14 (1.8 million/0.6) went up a tenth.
