The Vampire Diaries Season 7: Sibling Non-Rivalry Ahead!

at .  Updated at .

According to CW President Mark Pedowitz, The Vampire Diaries could easily have a long and successful run, even after Nina Dobrev exits the series.

And that's because another show on his same network has proven as much.

Speaking to reporters at today's Upfront Presentation in New York City, Pedowitz sounded optimistic about the future of The Vampire Diaries, even beyond the upcoming seventh season.

The drama will just need to take a page from Supernatural and change its focus a bit.

"It's going to be much more focused on the brothers, Damon and Stefan," Pedowitz said, adding that Bonnie and Caroline will also be featured more often this fall.

"They've done a great job," he added of producers and how they've plotted for Dobre's exit.

"We'll see, but we believe... we have a show for 11 years based on two brothers called Supernatural...it's possible this could happen the same way."

And speaking of that show, just how much longer does the executive see Supernatural lasting?

"I'm a big believer in the show," he said. "As long as the ratings hold and the boys want to do it, we're in."

[UPDATE: Julie Plec says fans can expect "time" to be played with often on Season 7, as the Heretics have driven people out of town.]

The CW Quotes

Alice: These diaries are your past, and your past is crushing you. Edgar says that...
Betty: What, Mom? What does some guru who’s running a heaven’s gate commune for pregnant runaways and wives of serial killers have to say about my diaries?
Alice: We know that you look down on the Farm, Betty. But, Edgar has done nothing but help me. He’s encouraged me to embrace everything that I was ashamed of and become the best version of myself.

Veronica: What's happening out there? Do we know? Is it about me?
Jughead: I have a strong inkling, and no. Also, I'd let it go.
Veronica: Yes, but you're you and I'm me. You do you, girl. I'll be back.
[She leaves]
Kevin: What was it like before she got here? I honestly cannot remember.
