The Whispers Season 1 Episode 5 Review: What Lies Beneath

#WhoIsDrill is getting really annoying.

On The Whispers Season 1 Episode 5, we aren't any closer to figuring out who Drill is. It would be great if the on-screen hash tags would stop asking us who he is. There haven't been any hints.

You haven't given us anything to work off of here, people! You can't ask a question over and over without providing any new information.

At least Claire and Wes started to consider the possibility that Drill isn't a person. They have moved off of the "Sean is Drill" theory finally, but they still haven't really used Sean at all. Most of the time was spent asking Sean about his life that he doesn't remember.

Yes, they had to prove that Sean actually doesn't remember who he is, but there were more pressing matters at hand. Still, Sean figuring out that he was not friends with Wes was amusing.

Claire trying to get Sean to remember their life together was heartbreaking. It was so cute to hear how Sean and Claire met, but Sean's facial expressions were killing me.

He looked so interested and sad that he couldn't remember, but he put on a smile and commented on Claire's story. Sean not remembering will be my cause of death.

I like that story. I sound like a good guy.

Sean

Not only were we graced with Sean's magnificent man bun, but we also got to see all of his tattoos. His ink was the best and only way for Sean to describe what his tie is to the events that have been going on because of Drill. We still don't know whether Drill is the one talking to him or not, but there is a connection.

Ding! Ding! Ding! We have another creepy kid! Claire finds him through Sean's unsolved tattoo - AS 33. While the arsenic theory was terrifying, it looks more like the tattoo referred to Ethan, number 33 on the A's team.

Drill just wanted him to build a volcano, which sounds non-threatening. Of course it did tie into Wes' fulgurite trip. Oh, and the kid's mom works with Wes.

Somehow this leads Claire to think that Drill is targeting Wes. It's a bit of a leap though. We already know that everyone is connected, as far as whose kids are talking to Drill, but if Drill wanted to kill Wes, he could have done it already. Wes could have gone the way of Minx's therapist.

Another theory is that Drill is targeting Wes, but he doesn't want Wes dead. I'm not sure if I buy this targeting Wes theory, though. What do you think?

Minx was not chosen at random. She was chosen because of my job, because of me.

Wes

Theory time. Sean is somehow connected to the pretty blue rock that Wes found under the fulgurite. "They found it," is what Sean said after seizing at the same exact time that Wes was having people dig at the rock. Sean is linked to it, but is it what is communicating with him?

Maybe the rock is the battery that is powering whatever Drill is up to, much like how Ethan needed a battery to make his volcano explode.

Minx did some stuff. It's not that there's anything wrong with her scenes, they were just boring. The only thing that really happened was Lena talked to her shady friend.

Did anyone else get a bad vibe from the friend? There's something about the way she reacted to Lena during their conversation in Lena's house that put her on my suspicious people to watch list.

What did you think of "What Lies Beneath"? Does anyone actually have a theory on who or what Drill is? Leave me your thoughts and theories in a comment below,
