Michael Chiklis will be joining Gotham Season 2 as a police captain, mentor and ally to Jim Gordon.

According to TVLine, Gotham producers say Captain Nathaniel Barnes will rip through GCPD like a tornado, tearing away all the dead weight on the force and making enemies if necessary, no matter the side of the law.

The producers also say in addition to being an ally and mentor, Gordon will share with Captain Barnes the burden of heroism, "but one day he will make an equally powerful enemy." 

That certainly sounds ominous, but also like the perfect fit for Michael Chiklis! It's a role we cannot wait to see him take on.

Chiklis joins James Frain, another new addition to Gotham's second season and series regular, which is being described as the "rise of the villains." It will be fun to see where everybody comes into the city and where they land.
