Scream Season 1 Episode 3 Review: Wanna Play a Game?

Do we have a sexist killer on our hands?

The women seem to be at a serious disadvantage so far. Sadly, Riley and Noah's budding romance was extremely short lived.

It didn't have to be that way. though. as Emma found herself pulled into the killer's dangerous game on Scream Season 1 Episode 3

Emma's Dangerous Game - Scream

Emma was forced to choose between the "good girl" and the "bad girl." Assuming Riley was safe at the police station, she instructed the killer not to hurt Brooke, unknowingly sealing Riley's fate.

Considering how guilty she felt when she thought Rachel killed herself based on something Nina did, I'd say Emma's going to have a tough time getting over this one.

The good news is, I think we can start narrowing down our suspect pool. At this point I think we can rule out Audrey, who's clearly grieving over Rachel. Noah was obviously not at the police station when Riley was killed, so I'm comfortable ruling him out, as well. Granted, I believe there's a good chance there are two killers, but I still don't think Noah is one of them.

Brooke appears unlikely since Emma could have easily chosen her, but going off the grid and not answering Emma's calls would be one way of ensuring Emma picked Riley. I don't think it's her, but I'm not ready to rule her out either.

Will and Jake are getting creepier by the minute. Jake looked about ready to whack Will over the head with that shovel, but managed to restrain himself. Then we get the glimpse of the knife behind Will's back...

They both seem too obvious, but so did Billy Loomis. The twist was the two killers, what will the twist be here?

What was with Jake and Brooke's cat and mouse/bobcat and shark conversation? It felt pretty ominous and made me wonder if Brooke would be the one to die this week.

Kieran's back story is growing more mysterious.

Emma: Well we don't want you getting arrested.
Kieran: It wouldn't be the first time.
Emma: Seriously?

Something tells me this is going to be important in future episodes. Why was he arrested? Was it for something mundane, or something serious?

With his help, Emma now knows that her mom is Daisy, Brandon James' obsession. Her mom admitted it, but that was about all she was willing to say. She might want to consider coming clean before the killer does it for her. Her secrets are coming out, one way or another. This killer expects to earn Emma's trust, and the only way to do that is to back up his claims and prove her mom is lying.

I think Emma and Audrey's rocky friendship is going to be key in this series. I see them as possibly two of the last (if not the last two) standing a la Sidney and Gale. They're meant to be friends, and I think we'll continue to see that they work well together.

Riley's death is easily my favorite so far. It was gruesome and chilling, and I loved that she didn't die right away. The whole scene really encompassed the feel of the movies. The series continues to improve with each episode, and I'm really enjoying the ride.

What are your theories? Is it time for one of the male main characters to get knocked off? Maybe Mr. Branson who is just asking to get caught. Seriously, this has to be the most unsubtle affair ever.

If you missed anything, you can watch Scream online and catch up! You wouldn't want to miss out on any important clues!

Scream Season 1 Episode 3 Quotes

In my humble opinion, nobody puts on a mask and commits a murder like that just once. The real question is, who's next?

Noah

Emma: Okay so Fault in our Stars is also a no.
Kieran: Cancer kids on top of a brutal murder might be a bit much.
