TV Land Pulls Dukes of Hazzard Reruns… Due to Confederate Flag Controversy?

at .  Updated at .

Did TV Land just insert itself into an ongoing political debate?

The network has yanked twice-daily reruns of Dukes of Hazzard from the air without giving an explanation for the move…

... though it’s very safe to assume this decision was made as a result of controversy over the Confederate flag on the roof of the 1969 Dodge Charger driven by main characters Bo and Luke Duke.

Last month, following the murder of nine African-Americans inside a South Carolina church by an admitted racist, Warner Bros. announced it would stop selling show merchandise that features this symbol.

Said the company at the time:

“Warner Bros. Consumer Products has one licensee producing die-cast replicas and vehicle model kits featuring the General Lee with the Confederate flag on its roof.

"We have elected to cease the licensing of these product categories.”

CMT also airs Dukes of Hazzard episodes, but has not made an official announcement regarding their future.

However, no reruns appear to be scheduled there over the next two weeks, either.
