UnREAL Season 1 Episode 6 Review: Fly

at .  Updated at .

That was a dark twist, y'all.

UnREAL Season 1 Episode 6 may just have forced us to say goodbye to Mary and no, she wasn't eliminated from the show – she committed suicide. She was on a complete high for much of the hour, so it was obvious she was going to come back down – and down she went.

I can't begin to imagine what was going through Rachel and Quinn's heads to bring Mary's abusive ex into the fold. It was cheap, tacky and made for reality TV. This is a cautionary tale of how too much manipulating can tip someone over the edge.

Shia is no doubt to blame for messing with her medication in the first instance. I love how she tried to put the blame on Rachel. I'm betting Rachel will be in the firing line because Quinn saw her on that damn roof. I don't quite understand how Everlasting can continue on if one of the contestants die during filming.

That might be just enough to change the show within a show for the sophomore run of the show.

Yes, maybe you haven't heard, but Lifetime renewed UnREAL earlier today, and I couldn't be happier. The show might not be doing well in traditional ratings metrics, but it's racking up a tidy post air date viewer count.

Jeremy took some of his frustration from UnREAL Season 1 Episode 5 out on Lizzie this week, and she finally grew a set and realized she is not the object of his desire. I love how she tried to sugar coat it and say that they moved too fast. If he was smart, he'd know she was breaking it off. I'm completely on her side. Why should she settle for second best?

Let's get back to Shia and her stupidity. Why did she think it would also be a good idea for family day with Mary, her sister and their kids? The chick is just full of bad decisions, and with her pinning everything on Rachel, she's going to continue to ruin the show.

It's time for you to wiggle your sweet little lawyer ass out of here. You've had your fun, now get out.

Then there's the fact that Quinn agreed with all of us at home and HATED family time, so Anna was thrown in to cause some drama and to let us know that she hadn't disappeared from the face of the earth.

Mary's reaction to her was crazy. Her sister should have known something was off and took her home. She could have prevented her demise, but Shia managed to put her mind at rest. That's the thing with master manipulators, they can make you feel paranoid in an instant and think that you're points aren't valid. Heck, that's why they can keep the show going on.

Quinn also hopped on the crazy train. The fact that she is being nice to Chet is making my blood boil. The two of them nearly got between the sheets again, but I'm glad to report that a phone call from Cynthia stopped them in their tracks.

"Fly" was an apt title for this week's episode. If you thought the show was going to slow down as we approached the home stretch, you were mistaken. The show is continuing to push the boundaries and keep us glued to the drama. See you next week!
