Switched at Birth Season 4 Episode 11 Review: To Repel Ghosts

Emmett just keeps popping up everywhere!

On Switched at Birth Season 4 Episode 11, there was a lot going on but not a lot of movement being made. Bay's heartbreak over Emmett took center stage and quickly became exhausting to watch. The most shocking moment came when Regina found out the truth about Eric.

Let's not waste anymore time and discuss "To Repel Ghosts."

Kathryn was completely right about Bay needing to push her thoughts of Emmett out of her head. Instead of sleeping all day, she needs to channel all her anger, sadness and depression into her art. Bay's heart is broken, but she can't continue to dwell on the past; though it didn't help having her constantly see Emmett every time she turned out.

Who else was cheering on Daphne when she went off on Emmett? Way to stick up for Bay and show whose side you are on. While Daphne may be friends with Emmett, she's going to stick up for her sister especially after everything Bay has been through. Emmett really did pick a crappy time to break up with Bay.

You know why I love kids? They can't seem to keep their mouths shut when it comes to secrets. Regina was smart to prod Will into giving her more information on Eric's wife.

Regina: So, uh, hun you remember the other day, before we were interrupted, you were saying something about your mom? Did you mean that she's alive in your heart or in heaven? Cause I know how hard it can be when someone you love dies.
Will: I meant she's alive in Georgia, but I'm not supposed to talk about it.
Regina: Are you sure?
Will: She's working at a car shop back where we used to live in Atlanta. Her name is Hope Paxton. I found her on the internet right away, I still haven't emailed her yet. [leaning in and whispering] Paxton is her old last name.
Regina: What do you mean old last name? [Eric comes in and interrupts them]

I was not expecting to see Eric, aka Marcus, in a wanted photo. Hearing the reason why Eric took Will was heartbreaking – I can't blame him at all for taking his son out of danger. Eric's heart was in the right place and he really does think he's doing the right thing. I imagine everything is going to blow up when Will decides to send his mother an email and informs her of where they are.

When I heard they were going to do a pregnancy storyline I was nervous they would have Bay or Daphne be pregnant, but I was quickly relieved to have it turn out to be Lily. At least Lily has a stable job, and even though her and Toby are broken up, he would make a great father. However, it's pretty clear they both still care about each other.

Lily: I'm pregnant.
Daphne: Are you sure?
Lily: And I don't know how it happened because we're really careful.
Daphne: Is it Toby's?
Lily: Of course.
Daphne: I'm sorry. He told me that you said you had feelings for some other guy.
Lily: Yeah, but nothing happened with him which I told Toby. It was just stupid infatuation which I should have kept to myself and now Toby hates me.
Daphne: Does he know?
Lily: No one knows. I just moved here a year ago. I don't know that many people. My parents are 5000 miles away and would not understand. You can't tell Melody or Bay or anyone.

Travis may make me angry sometimes, but he really is a great friend. Bay needed someone who knew exactly what she was going through and Travis was the perfect choice. These two could easily form a broken hearts club – they could even ask Toby and Lily to join.

Bay continued to spiral out of control and it seemed completely out of character. It's like Bay has no self esteem and her world revolved around Emmett. This version of Bay is extremely unlikable. It also may be time for Bay to see a psychiatrist to move through this anger she is feeling.

Everyone bagging on Mingo was getting on my last nerve. Let Daphne make her own decisions when it comes to the people she wants to go out with. Mingo has done some stupid things in the past, but he has since redeemed himself and is a decent guy. If her friends can't learn to like Mingo, they at least need to learn to accept him.

Speaking of Mingo, I really hope we get more of his back story. Mingo seems like this puzzle which needs to be solved and while he may seem like he's sure of himself, I have a sinking suspicion all is not as it seems with him. Hopefully his mom, who he's talked about a few times, will be making an appearance and another side of his personality will come out which may change peoples perception of him.

In the end, Regina, thanks to a lovely talk with Kathryn, understood why Eric did what he did and agrees to keep his secret. Daphne talked about her feelings with Mingo who assured her he likes her. Bay finally realized she was going to be OK, but her Emmett visions are still there. Lily tearfully informed Daphne that the baby she's carrying has downs syndrome.

What did you think of Eric's story? How will Toby react when he finds out he's going to be a father? Do you think Bay will get over Emmett?

Next week on Switched at Birth Season 4 Episode 12, Bay decides to enroll at UMKC, but things get uncomfortable when Bay realizes people are still talking about the assault investigation. Will she ever be able to move on from the past?

Meanwhile, Toby and Lily get a chance to talk, but things don't go as planned. Make sure to tune in Monday, August 31 at 8/7c on ABC Family.
