Dominion Season 2 Episode 10 Review: House of Sacrifice

Well, Lucifer was finally name-dropped and the amphora's darkness released.
The last few installments and Dominion Season 2 Episode 10 were basically setting the stage for the massive battle ahead. With only three episodes left, there still seems to be so much unresolved. I hope they don't leave us with a cliffhanger.
Gates made the ultimate sacrifice, and now I feel ashamed I ever doubted the character's intentions. Again, if I were watching this on Netflix I'd be moving on to the next hour. I think binge-watching has spoiled the weekly viewing experience for me.
Michael returned to Mallory, and in regular clothes. It sure was funny to see the archangel looking so spiffy. Of course, once the prophet appeared you got the sense Michael was dreaming. There have been many theories as to who the prophet is, but why doesn't Michael recognize him? I mean, if he was Lucifer surely Michael would recognize his older brother right?
Alex and Gates butting heads was a tad irritating. Seriously guys, you're smack in the middle of a civil war and you turn it into a dick measuring contest? Claire's face was priceless, but taking Gates' side wasn't going to sit well with our new Alex. They found common ground when the reactor sprung a leak, which would prove interesting. Still, it was Claire and Arika's scene that really stood out. There's no doubt Claire's learned how to play the game.
I'm glad we checked in with Riesen. Wasn't it odd they skipped over him, especially after becoming a dyad? When he mentioned feeling "off balance," I couldn't help wonder which higher angel now shared his body. First, Riesen had to confront Gabriel, whose black eyes remind us is possessed by the darkness.
William came across more cray cray than ever, but I can't shake the feeling he's a dyad.
David: You're supposed to be dead. If Claire finds you, you're going to hang and I'll be swinging next to you. We have to leave Vega.
William: We're not going anywhere. God chose me to cleanse the world of evil one person at a time. And I don't know a heart more troubled than yours David. The moment I saw you, I knew God brought you to me. My work begins with you.
I thought the redhead was going to play a part in David's capture. Though Arika ordered her to kill him, I knew Whele wasn't going anywhere. Didn't expect him to take her out though. It was great that Gates came clean about the poisoned water. Claire needed to know exactly who she's dealing with.
Why would Riesen assume Gabriel had no clue as to the amphora's power? And why would Gabe ask Riesen to lead his army? Their whole confrontation confused me, only for Riesen and Clementine to be released. Apparently, Riesen was the more dominant resident in his body thanks to Clem and he didn't run off with his tail tucked between his legs. Gabriel realized this, so it was bye bye Clementine. I guess it was her after all. The angel half was now in control.
Noma's "phantom pains" were worrisome. Was this a sign she's dying?
Noma: Sometimes it feels like they're being torn off again.
Alex: Phantom pains?
Noma: Worse. Crazy how a part of you can hurt so much even after it's gone.
Noma: How's Claire?
Alex: We lost the baby.
Noma: I'm so sorry Alex.
In his dream state, Michael cut himself on the empyrean steel and Noma watched him bleed. It did seem Michael walked away from the whole Mallory ordeal too easily. The prophet demanded a sacrifice and Michael bent the rules, so the entity returned to collect. When he said, "Really Michael, violence in your father's house" not our father's hinted that this was not Lucifer himself. Michael asked all the right questions, but would the prophet allow Mallory to die?
As with Dominion Season 2 Episode 9, the cutting between New Delphi, Vega and Mallory started to annoy me. I understand they have several stories to deal with, but just when things are getting interesting in one scene we're back in the other city. For me, this interrupts the flow and is a more of a distraction than anything else. Perhaps, I'm just less interested in what's going down in Vega. Was there any doubt Alex and Gates would take the reactor back? Their little fight was fun, I'll admit.
Were Michael and the prophet seriously going to decide his fate over a game of Texas hold 'em? It was a neat turn of events, but a little silly considering the stakes. I enjoyed their conversation, but was anxious to know who the prophet was (or worked for). Now we know it's the Morning Star. Lucifer finally gets name dropped on Dominion. Things are about to get interesting.
It didn't surprise me that William turned David over, but Gates' sacrifice was a shock.
Claire: We're taking back the nuclear plant. It's over.
David: I suppose congratulations are in order. Nicely done Claire, your father would be proud.
Shouldn't Claire have killed him on the spot? You know he's just going to escape somehow and keep causing trouble. I knew the second Gates mentioned entering the containment room he was a goner. Why wouldn't Alex understand this? I honestly did not expect Gates to go out a martyr. It was a tough scene to watch, and I didn't see it coming. Though I didn't connect much with Claire and Gates, that final moment worked and it was powerful.
Can Alex and Claire find a way back to one other? With everything they've been through, it seems unlikely. I loved seeing David in chains and Arika giggling at his misfortune. How will he get out of this one? Do you think they'll kill him off?
Gabriel released the amphora's darkness outside Vega and Riesen took charge of the 8-ball army. Everything this season has been building toward is about to hit hard over the next few episodes. I can't wait to watch all the events unfold... wow!
