The Grinder Receives Full Season Pickup at Fox

The verdict is in!

The Grinder is a success. It's the second freshman series on Fox this season to receive a full season pickup.

Rob Lowe stars as Dean Sanderson aka The Grinder, a former TV lawyer who thinks he has what it takes to move home and join the family law firm courtesy of his fabulous television role. His brother, Stewart, played by Fred Savage, has a completely differing opinion, while their father (William Devane) remains a little star struck by his elder son, allowing the two to duke it out for themselves.

The Grinder Season 1 Episode 2

"The Grinder is the perfect combination of razor-sharp wit and relatable family dynamics — two hallmarks of successful comedies," said Fox entertainment president David Madden. "The critics have embraced this original, fresh and funny show, and the talented cast – led by Rob Lowe and Fred Savage — have done such an incredible job infusing it with biting humor and heartfelt moments."

This news also bodes well for The Grinder's time slot companion, Grandfathered, which does slightly better in the ratings but isn't wholly owned by Fox.

The Grinder Quotes

Dean: Let's say you're in a restaurant and Noah Wyle is two tables down. You go into cardiac arrest, you don't think Noah Wyle could step in and help?
Stewart: Yes he could help, by calling a doctor, because he is an actor.

Stewart: So you're gonna go to law school?
Dean: I don't think I need that, with the show and all.
Stewart: Oh sure, acting on a TV show is the equivalent of going to law school, so why would you need that?
