iZombie Season 2 Episode 13 Review: The Whopper

at .  Updated at .

With all of the lies, it's surprising that this much truth came out in iZombie Season 2 Episode 13.

Liv's random lies were nothing when compared to the big lies everyone else is telling.

Let's start with Major. The seemingly "golden boy" is the biggest liar of them all and has been working with a shady organization to kill zombies.

At least his intentions are noble; he did it to protect Liv.

In an unexpected twist, Major's secret was revealed to Blaine! You would think that this is the worst person who could find out, but he might actually be the best. Blaine won't judge Major for his choices, and while Blaine may use this against Major, Blaine won't want this to get back to cops anymore than Major does.

Speaking of Blaine and Major, did anyone else yell at the TV when Major poked his head out of the window at Shady Plots (best name ever) and the FBI van was out there? It already seems like Clive had his suspicions about Major, but now there is no doubt that Major is into something bad.

Major Detective Work - iZombie Season 2 Episode 13

Drake is still such a mystery, and we can't tell where his loyalty lies. Is he going to play both sides (Mr. Boss and Blaine), or will he be forced to pick one? We know that Blaine used to work for Mr. Boss, so it makes sense that Drake was also a part of that organization.

It leaves us to wonder, what will happen when Mr. Boss finds out that it's Blaine stepping in on Mr. Boss' drug game? Which side will Drake be on then?

Bedtime Business - iZombie Season 2 Episode 13

It's time Liv lets go of Drake. While the bad boy with tattoos and muscles appeals to us all, he is clearly bad news. Sure, Major is a killer, too, but at least Major is killing for a good reason. (Only on a show like this does that make sense!)

We got a little truth on one of the most consistent liars – Blaine. Blaine has always been a wild card and a rebel, but in this episode, we were given a deeper glimpse into his past. Him having an abusive nanny explains a lot. The fact that she was going to get all of Blaine's father's assets is pretty screwed up.

Someone should teach you how to humble brag. People might hate you less.

Blaine

Speaking of screwed up, how funny was Blaine when he hopped out in aged makeup and clothes just to trick his father when he thawed him? The level of mind games and torture in that family is insane, but gave us some laughs.

Usually Liv's visions serve as the comic relief and give some clues to the victims killer but provide little on the rest of the show's plot. This time, however, the brain was directly tied to the tainted utopium and Drake, making every scene feel important. Shout out to Clive for FINALLY noticing the mood swings Liv gets on each case!

Clive: I'm gonna run this by Bozzio.
Ravi: If she bears your children, you'll start using her first name, right?

With the clock ticking on the cured zombies now that New Hope is dead, they finally caught a break! The Les Miserable song playing in the background as Liv planted the red flag in the ground where they finally found the tainted utopium was a great touch.

Digging Dudes - iZombie Season 2 Episode 13

Having that also play as Blaine's father screams for help as he is about to be tortured? That's golden! All in all, a great episode. I have never been more hooked thanks to the whopper of a tale Big Fish's brain gave us.
