They're under a spell at Syfy!

It was announced today that freshman series The Magicians, based upon a series of novels by Lev Grossman, has been renewed for a 13-episode sophomore season to air sometime in 2017.

“Thanks to an extraordinarily gifted creative team of executive producers and our partners at Universal Cable Productions, The Magicians has become a buzzed-about hit, enchanting fans of the novels as well as attracting new and younger audiences to Syfy,” said Dave Howe, President, Syfy & Chiller.

The Magicians centers on a brilliant grad student named Quentin chosen to attend the Brakebills College of Magical Pedagogy, a secret university that specializes in magic.

Quentin and his 20-something friends soon discover that the magical fantasy world they read about as children is all too real when they unwittingly invite a malevolent entity from the other side into their world.

The series stars Jason Ralph, Stella Maeve, Olivia Taylor Dudley, Hale Appleman, Arjun Gupta and Summer Bishil.
