NCIS: Los Angeles will look a little bit different this fall.

Behind the scenes, at least.

Shane Brennan, who created the NCIS spinoff in 2009 and who has run it ever since, has stepped down from his post in order to develop new projects for CBS.

He and the network recently agreed to a two-year extension of his contract with CBS TV Studios.

Among the programs Brennan has been developing is a television adaptation of the movie franchise The Expendables; it is currently being shopped around.

According to Deadline, executive producer R. Scott Gemmill will take over lead duties on the L.L. Cool J and Chris O'Donnell-anchored drama.

NCIS: Los Angeles returns for Season 8 this fall.

Take note, however: it will move to Sundays at 8/7c, leading into Madam Secretary and Elementary.
