Once Upon a Time Season 6: 11 Things We're Excited About

at .

The wait is ALMOST over!

The heroes will be back on Sunday, September 25.

We've been paying attention to the tidbits that showrunners Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis have been dropping all summer long, and it sounds like Once Upon a Time Season 6 is shaping up to be one of the best seasons of the show so far.

Here are just a few of the things that we're really excited about seeing when our favorite residents of Storybrooke make their return this fall!

1. Regina vs. Regina

Regina thought that she had finally defeated worse half, the Evil Queen, when she crushed her heart in the Season 5 finale. What will happen when Regina realizes that her evil side lived to see another day? Lana Parilla told TV Line back in July that the twist is, “awesome,” and that having the Evil Queen around would spark Charming to realize truths about himself as well.

2. No Split Season

The news of a standard 22 episode story left us feeling much better about Season 6. Having spent the last 3 seasons splitting the story in half, Edward Kitsis said of Season 6 back in June, “It’s not going to be ‘Hyde comes to town, we fight with him for 10 episodes, and then in the winter finale he dies and we move on.’ We are… going back to that Season 1 mentality of small-town stories and smaller arcs.”

3. Emma's Life-Altering Secret

What is it?! What can it be?! “Emma learns a life-altering secret that could have serious consequences for her family and loved ones.” We can't believe how in the dark we are about this tease that Entertainment Weekly reported in August. We know that Aladdin is a former Savior himself, and that he will help Emma on her journey this season as they dive further into Savior mythos, but we REALLY just want to know what that secret is.

4. Aladdin, Jasmine, and Jafar

Fans who attended the Once Upon a Time panel at Comic Con were treated to an exclusive viewing of the first few moments of Season 6...which revolved around Aladdin! We can't wait to see what kinds of trouble Jafar can stir up in Storybrooke, and watching Aladdin and Jasmine fall in love all over again on our TV screens.

5. Belle's Rumplebaby

It's not true love for Rumbelle, but given Rumplestiltskin's evil actions at all times, is that really a surprise? When Belle eventually wakes up from her long slumber, with a baby in tow, how will being a mother affect her relationship with the beast she used to love? Could Belle truly be a changed woman, or will her forgiving spirit give Rumple ANOTHER chance? We can't wait to see how being a momma bear changes her perspective on life.

6. More Dr. Whale

Okay, this is more about being excited to see David Anders. But the news out of the ABC Television Critic's Association regarding Dr. Whale leads us to believe his role will be a bit more “mad” this season. Let's not forget, Dr. Whale is also Dr. Frankenstein. “Let’s just say mad scientists stick together,” Executive Producer and writer Adam Horowitz said.

7. Emma and Hook's True Love

Now that we know it's true love, and considering that Captain Swan has been through the ringer numerous times, we think it's about time for the lovebirds to enjoy a happy vacation, drama-free. Or at the very least, you know, get to enjoy happy little moments together, free of worry that one of them will die. Is that too much to ask?

8. Henry and the Land of Untold Stories

Henry discovered a number of books filled with stories he'd never seen before. The citizens of the Untold Stories reportedly don't want their stories to play out. With this being the case, we're really looking forward to seeing how Henry's vow to help them will play out. We're also quite excited to see Once Upon a Time's take on Morpheus and the Count of Monte Cristo!

9. Zelena

Zelena's evil days are behind her, for real this time. Maybe. We'll never totally believe it. But we ARE happy that Zelena seems to be sticking around, and that she and her sister have made amends. With the Evil Queen roaming around, it makes sense that the two sisters would need each other to take her down. Plus, we can't wait for Zelena's hilarious quips about the reality of what happens to the heroes.

10. Snow White and Prince Charming Back in Action

The best news about Season 6? Snow and Charming are mentioned heavily, and their characters are back in the forefront! Ginnifer Goodwin spent most of Season 5 sidelined a bit by her real-life pregnancy, and Charming's role was noticeably scaled back as well. We're glad to see that this season, they will be right in the center of the action with Emma, dealing with stories of their own.

11. Mr. Hyde

With Jekyll and Hyde separated, and Hyde claiming to run Storybrooke in Mr. Gold's absence, the story possibilities for the dual personalities seem endless. The brilliant and meek Dr. Jekyll will most likely be key to taking down Hyde, but we kind of want to see what kind of havoc Hyde will create in Storybrooke first. Who knows? Maybe after a dose of Hyde, Storybrooke will beg for Mr. Gold's return.
