Designated Survivor Season 1 Episode 10 Review: The Oath

Who needs a real doctor when YouTube can fix the problem?

Despite a number of goofy moments, Designated Survivor Season 1 Episode 10 lived up to the hype with a gasp-worthy hour of television that pretty much kept me at the edge of my seat.

A Traitor In the White House - Designated Survivor

It's been a long time since Designated Survivor kept me as captivated as this hour did (like not since the first episode.)

Maybe it was the whole Chuck saving Hannah via a YouTube video that started it, because that was probably the most incredibly ridiculous thing I've ever seen on a show that takes itself so seriously.

Hannah was in dire straights with injuries not only to her head, but her abdomen as well. She was one gob of blood, barely able to stand after escaping the bad guy, but all Chuck had to do was check out YouTube to save her life and the day.

He is America's hero.

When it's all over, I hope Kirkman awards him the Medal of Honor. If it wasn't for Chuck, Hannah wouldn't have been able to save Kirkman's day.

Hannah: Hey, Chuck, did you glue my wound?
Chuck: Yeah.
Hannah: Where'd you learn to do that?
Chuck: YouTube.

No matter how the hour ended, and what we saw in the preview, we all know it's not Kirkman under that sheet. Kiefer Sutherland is not about to die.

Still, the prospect of who it could be is pretty intriguing, but we'll have to wait until March to find out that answer.

My guess is Alex, though MacLeish could be a possibility.

But, think how much more Jack Bauer-ish Kirkman would become if he lost his wife? It truly is an exciting thought.

It was definitely Hannah's lucky day. Not only did she survive her near-death experience, she also started getting closer to solving the bombing conspiracy.

Things fit together perfectly for her at every turn. The maze of crazy took her exactly where she needed to go, and not even a woman walking her dog could get in her way.

Emily, I think there's a traitor in the White House, and I need you to help me find out who it is.

President Kirkman

It's amazing how things worked out.

Still, the fast pace was fun and exciting, and it was shocking to discover that the former President's Chief of Staff was still alive.

Why was he still in the DC area? How did he survive? Was he in one of those safe rooms?

But, the bigger question is will he still be able to help Hannah, especially now that we know she's in big trouble after the attempted shooting?

There's no way Hannah is going to stay quiet about the guy (I forget his name) unless someone threatens her, but I get the feeling she's going to finally team up with Kirkman to get to the bottom of everything.

I'm going to guess it's going to be a Hannah/Kirkman/Emily team-up to find out the truth about everything.

It wasn't surprising to find out that Aaron might be a bad guy.

It was never explained what he was doing with that woman (or what the file was she gave him) on Designated Survivor Season 1 Episode 1.

While it seems that General Cochrane might be innocent, I'm a little suspicious. He confronted Aaron about Kirkman that hour, but it's too easy to put Cochrane in the bad guy column. I'm going to keep him neutral for now.

Chuck, they're gonna kill Kirkman!

Agent Wells

I might even keep Hookstraten as neutral too. If she was in with the bad guys, she wouldn't be working against MacLeish, right?

So, right now, Aaron is the only one getting the bad guy label in that group.

MacLeish's wife was a surprise, wasn't she? I wasn't expecting her to know anything about anything going on. Now, I think she's the one pulling the strings, and he's the reluctant one.

But, was the whole purpose of the bombing to get MacLeish into office? That's another mystery that needs to be figured out. It certainly seems that way considering "they" were planning on assassinating Kirkman.

If that really was the plan.

What do you guys think? What surprised you most about this hour? Who do you think took the bullet? Is Emily's life in danger now that Aaron knows she's lying to him? Hit the comments and share your thoughts.
