Fanatic Feed: TV's Green Hornet Dies, Luke Cage Renewed & More

at .

The news today includes some premiere dates, a renewal, and an announcement of an awards host.

But first, a bit of sad news.

TV's Green Hornet, Van Williams, died at the age of 82.

The short-lived series aired as a companion to Batman in the 1960s. One of the things that made the series memorable was hailed martial artist Bruce Lee playing the manservant, Kato, to Britt Reid, the editor/publisher who masqueraded as the Green Hornet.

Before joining The Green Hornet, Williams played private eyes on Bourbon Street Beat and Surfside 6.

Williams retired from acting altogether in 1982 after guest starring roles in such shows as The Rockford Files and The Streets of San Francisco.

He's survived by his wife of 57 years, Vicki, and three daughters, Nina, Tia and Britt.

Just 12 weeks before the Oscars telecast, Jimmy Kimmel has been chosen to host the 2017 Academy Awards presentation on ABC.

Kimmel also presented the Emmy Awards this year, and I found him to be rather enjoyable.

While Kimmel doesn't have a lot of movie experience himself, he's had some great bits and reveals in conjunction with movies, including a very funny Batman v Superman stunt before that movie was released.

Humans Season 2 will begin airing on AMC February 13 at 10/9c.

The second season differs from the first season in that in will focus more directly on the synths, their cognitive awareness and struggle for rights.

Carrie-Ann Moss joins, acting as a high-profile replacement for the departed William Hurt.

FX's upcoming series Legion will make its debut on Wednesday, February 8 at 10/9c.

Legion follows David Haller (Legion), who has been diagnosed as a schizophrenic because of the voices he hears and things he sees.

But there's a lot more to Haller, who is a mutant with powers. Rachel Keller, Aubrey Plaza and Jean Smart costar.

Marvel's Luke Cage has been renewed for a second season at Netflix.

The Mike Colter character first appeared in Jessica Jones as the hero with superhero strength. This renewal was a no brainer, right?

It joins Daredevil and Jessica Jones as other Marvel series already renewed at the network. Iron Fist is set to premiere in 2017, and all four together will band together to create The Defenders, awaiting a premiere date.

With Punisher also on tap to premiere at some point, possibly late 2017, it seems unlikely we'll see Luke Cage Season 2 until late 2018. Eek.
